He said that, since I'm on benefits, there would be no point doing an IPA since most the money is being spent on essentials.

My debt was £28k at the time of the bankruptcy order. This debt was slowly made over the last 3-4 years, and some went on food, clothing, car, transport etc. Thing is that I can't account for around half of it. I also took out new cards to take advantage of its 0% offers that were floating around back then, but also trying to look for a job. See what happens I guess. He also said he'll be taking my car. :(

    Anyway, thanks.

What car do you have Sammy? And its value/mileage/works need doing etc??

Can you come up with a good argument as to why you need one (Rural, lots of hospitals appointments, older relatives rely on you??)

Cannot always put together a good argument, but if the car is worthless and a bus pass would cost more, then its worth a small fight at the very least.

I'm not really worried about keeping the car. It may be a Jaguar, worth around £5k, but I hardly use it much anyway. I'm actually thinking more about the BRO/BRU's.

The guy constantly tried catching me out, even though I was telling the truth. I'm not sure if he tried doing it with you guys. He said a couple of times that that would mean I was insolvent at the time, even though a couple of years back, my monthly payments (Loans + credit cards) were around £500, but my income was around £700. Does that mean I was insolvent? I'm not even sure what "insolvent" meant when he said it, lol. He said that as soon as you start taking cash out to pay bills, it means you're insolvent?

    Clarification would be appreciated. Thanks.

Pesonally i'd say it was once outgoings exceeded incomings and as such you were using credit to pay for bills etc. (robbing peter to pay paul)

    Here's a dictionary definition :)

    in·sol·vent (ibreve.gifn-sobreve.giflprime.gifvschwa.gifnt)
adj. 1. a. Unable to meet debts or discharge liabilities; bankrupt.
    b. Insufficient to meet all debts, as an estate or fund.

    2. Of or relating to bankrupt persons or entities

I spent a lot of my debt on necessities like food, clothing, transport costs etc, but also had a little gamble here and there (Around £100 max total) out of the £34k debt, as well as spending probably £1k on other things over 3 years. A little worried about that, but not too much.

    - How long does a normal OR interview last?

30mins - 1hr seems the norm (they are paying....)

I actually had to phone my OR for my interview as he didn't want to phone my mobile for, what could have been, an hour or more  (i don't have a landline)

I did offer to do this though (as I had free minutes :D) .. thought i'd get off on the right track with him ;)
