BA Executive Club

Hi,

I am planning a trip to the USA in August.

I joined the BA Executive Club, then booked the flight (this was about 3 weeks ago).

There are currently no points in my Executive Club balance though - does anyone know if I'll get them when I fly, or should they have been credited on purchase of the tickets please?

Cheers,
Karen

They are credited after the flight.

However, unless you are flying in First don't expect them to be worth anything. My family account has earned points from: four return trips to Switzerland; two or three return trips to Beijing; a return trip to Hong Kong. For all that, I now have enough miles for one trip to Italy: but only if I pay part of the cost in cash. In practice the cash payment would be more than the total cost of a Ryanair flight there.

Still, the membership card looks nice.

You will get your BA Miles within approx 72 hours of each leg of your flight.

It is very difficult to earn enough BA Miles to redeem for another flight just by flying, unless you fly a lot (and I mean a lot) on business in higher fare classes.

If you bought the cheapest economy non-flexible fare you will hardly get any.

Tesco Clubcard Points are a different matter however....I've converted enough of those to BA Miles in the last year to get our WT+ return flights to Vancouver with very little effort.

In fact, we're going on Friday

I've already got 80,000 BA Miles banked towards the next trip.

Have a look here at Flyertalk.com and the folks will give you loads of information.

I had booked 2 return flights to CPT last year but due to my hospitalisation while there I was flown back with a doctor on South African Airlines. The points from BA for the flight I did not take still appeared.
