PenyBanc Car Centre

Otherwise known as Penybanc Trade Centre.

Just a warning - be careful buying a used car from these jokers.

We put a deposit down on a car, subject to test drive.

We decided the car was not for us.

They are now denying all knowledge of the "subject to test drive" part and are refusing to refund our deposit... unfortunately, the owners are highly rude and are refusing to correspond with us so the next step is a solicitor

The cars are pretty sub-standard too judging by the ones on the forecourt.

Did you sign a contract? If so, what do the terms and conditions state with regards to any deposit? By putting down a deposit you entered into a contract to buy the car.

Why did you put down a deposit before you had decided to test drive and buy a specific car?

I presume the car was one they really wanted and it was to secure it - I don't think this is that unusual. If you signed anything you need to check the conract carefully - I would speak to Trading Standards. Good advice here:

If the car has not left the forecourt, as in you haven driven it off, then you havent bought it, and are entitled to the deposit back, get legal advice

Not true - by paying a deposit, a contract has been entered to purchase the car.
