Npower still charging
Hi All,
I hope someone can help with a quick query. I think I may be missing something here.
We switched on 6th June (the actual switch date) from Npower to Scottish Power. Now it seems that on 21st June, the direct debit date, both of those two have charged me my monthly direct debit. Npower £57 and SP £75. Now that I don't mind, but I still have not had a final bill from them explaining what the net difference is. On the changeover date we sent the meter reading to both companies.
I am a little worried as we have only ever had one piece of correspondence from Npower- an estimated bill. What is the normal procedure in this situation? Should I be worried? I thought they would have sent us something by now.
The reason I am more concerned is that our place is a new build and Npower have not yet managed to get our neighbours address correct, despite many communications with them.
Does anyone have any useful input as I have not swapped suppliers before.
Thanks in advance!

Did you supply scottish power with meter readings on the 6th?
If so it should be reasonably easy to sort out.
I know its a little late now but in future I would always cancel the Direct Debit with the old supplier yourself on the transfer date (6th in your case)Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Yes, I provided them both with the readings at the same time. That is why I am a little confused.0

Oh and if I cancel the direct debit, will they not be able to take out the final payment (if there is one), hence why I have not done this yet.0

Basically the gaining supplier scottish power has to give the final reading to npower - until this is done (they wont accept your readings ) and the transfer date is confirmed there is always a chance on a switch to get a cross over D.D ammount - if it was my account i would ring npower check to find if there have had the readings from scottish power and then they can calculate your final charges while your on the phone - easy to sort - hope that helps0

Yes, spoke to Npower. It turns out that I can cancel the direct debit and pay the final amount via some other means (I didn't realise this was possible). I shall confirm the reading given to SP with them later- this is currently showing online with SP but I need to check it is the same as I gave them.
Just thought I would answer my own question, so this wasn't a dead thread!
