I do. Tea tree oil, peppermint, ecalyptus or lavender are especially good as they are antibacterial as well.
I make up a general spray with vinegar, water, a blob of washing up liquid and EO (tea tree and peppermint).
I use vinegar and lavender oil as my fabric softener.
Also bicarb and lavender oil in my work shoes to deordorise.

Amazing what you can do with so little products!:)

    Thank you
The vinegar and lavender oil sounds good for fabric conditioner
I can’t use tea tree as it’s toxic to dogs

I wouldnt worry too much. I have 4 dogs and a few drops in a spray that gets wiped up immeadiately isnt going to hurt them.
As long as they dont have access to the neat oil then they should be ok.
  • 5 litre containers of white vinegar and large rubs of bicarbonate of soda are available on amazon and eBay. Not sure that it works out much cheaper than supermarket products, but it's convenient having the larger quantities.

Cheapest vinegar I can find on Amazon is Golden Swan White Vinegar, 5 Litre, Pack of 4 at £13.99 (£0.70/L) which is not too bad if you require this much though compared with the likes of Aldi who are currently selling 568ml bottles for 29p (£0.51p/L), might be cheaper for some to buy a few from there instead. ASDA’s sell same size bottles for the same price as well.

I tell you what though, white vinegar is very versatile alright. Used some half diluted with water recently sprayed on dog wee (my sister’s dog weed while exploring my bedroom when visiting recently. It’s an anxiety thing apparently.) and worked a treat. I couldn’t get angry with him after doing it either as he’s such a lovely dog.
  • I'm looking for two tips - 1-how to clean chrome?  2-how to clean sticky worktops.  (It's worse around my gas hob).

I've tried Boots and a number of other shops for citric acid and they don't have it.

Does anyone know where it can be bought?

I also heard shops are reluctant to sell it because it was linked to some illegal activity. Is this true?
I saw this in Homebase yesterday, but our local old fashioned Hardware shop has started stocking cleaning ‘ingredients’ like this too. Maybe check your local?
