I have an Abbey credit card which I no longer use and I want to cancel it. I logged on to my details but couldn't find an address. Does anyone know where I should send my cancellation letter to please?

Just find a contact number on their website and phone it. They may ask you why you want to cancel, either tell them the reason or say "I don't like the color, it doesn't go with my new shoes" I like to say that with a camp accent.
I wonder why it is, that young men are always cautioned against bad girls. Anyone can handle a bad girl. It's the good girls men should be warned against.-David Niven

...or if it's an old MBNA run Abbey card, ring 0800 783 1116.

I had trouble cancelling with them and eventually put everything in writing:

    Abbey National plc
    PO Box 983
    Bradford
    BD1 9FE

This was last November and the letter from them was from Helen Mathews
  • If it's an MBNA-run Abbey card, and not a new Abbey (Santander) card, the correspondence address is:

    Abbey Credit Card Services,
    PO Box 1004,
    Chester Business Park,
    Chester
    CH4 9WW.

You could also ring MBNA on 0800 062 062 and tell them you want to close the account, and ask for a closure letter to be sent for your own records.

Ring Abbey Customer Services (0845) 6021582 and they will pass you to the cancellations team. I think they are open until late evenings during the week and teatime at weekends.
