It will only run at 108mps if you have a compatible netgear card in your laptopDig inside; inside is the fountain of good, and it will forever flow, if you will forever dig.0

What speed should the netgear dg834gt with usb adapter installed in laptop run at? Mine is 54mps I think it should be 108 mbs which it says on the box it should run at0

As said in this previous post: [post]983705[/post] you have to have a Netgear card capable at running at 108Mbps before you can get to this speed.
What are you using the router for? Is it just for accessing the Internet or other computers? If just accessing the Internet, 54Mbps is faster than your Internet connection and you won't notice a difference in speed.0 -
Just for acessing the internet thanks!!0

The only time you might have needed the 108Mbps speed is if you were transferring files between computers, as the faster speed would make it quicker in the transfer process. But, if just for the Internet, you will be fine with 54Mbps.:)0 -

Well it should. It doesn't on mine. So posting this for the aid of those who find this forum via searching for problems with the above mentioned router and USB pack. I bought them together, was running at 54MBps (setting, not speed) happily then had to do some major file transferring and tried to set it to 108Mbps. With the USB stick ONE METRE from the router, it gets 36Mbps! This is with the latest firmware, drivers and correct settings. No other router is interfering, it's in the middle of a country field (and one metre away)! The USB stick is known for being a P.O.S. that overheats and then plain stops functioning, also corrupting the driver in Windows when it does so, as it's confusing behaviour for a device to exhibit. Bad design does not good economy make.0
