Passed the first year at uni

I was really making myself feel sick last night worrying if I had passed. I worked really hard on all my modules and I have just got my results on the university portal. I got an average mark of 68.167 with a couple of my modules at 75 and 76. I cna't believe how well I have done for someone who was classed at school as being 'will never achieve much and is not very intelligent'. Well I wish I could shove my results in their faces. :j :j

How are other first years uni students doing? Good luck if you haven't got your results yet!

I'm not a first year but wanted to say well done!! :T

I guess there are a lot of people out there who won't try because they were told they were 'stupid' or whatever at school, and that's sad imo. It's great when someone does take a chance and it pays off for them - I wish my OH could get past his appalling schooling. I would love to go to every teacher training course in the country and stress to them the importance of what they tell children.

Sorry, I feel quite strongly about this and can 100% see why you'd like to shove it in their faces!

Well done you. Are you going to have a celebration?

    Congratulations! :)
I am also a first year, but we are still waiting for three sets of exam results to come back. The waiting is a pain and although we are now on holiday it doesn't feel like that really because of the worry waiting to see if we get into next year!

If you fail your first year (below 40%) then you normally have a couple of choices. Either retake the whole year, do referral work during the summer to boost your grade or take the modules again in your second year along with all your second year work

And I just passed my second year with a 71% average :D

Hehe I passed too. Ha @ the grades though. I got average of 12/15, I need 13 for a 1st so it looks like I am going to have to do a little better next year to I can secure a really good degree.

But this year also I have to start looking for placements. My options at the moment are Accenture, IBM and HP.
  • Well done to you all:beer: I quite agree with bestpud there are many childrens aspirations ruined by unkind remarks made by ignorant teachers, they become so traumatised over it all that they feel they will never amount to anything and they give up trying and the trouble is most of the said teachers have had an easy ride in life, from decent backgrounds and with no financial problems unlike the children they may teach, they should be a bit more considerate and realise some of the harsh remarks they often say can have terrible consequences in a childs future.
