vision express rant

In the mood for a complete rant about vision express...
I went for an eye test 2 weeks ago as i wanted a spare of glasses for my honeymoon and thought i would get a new pair for the wedding.
So anyway I went for a test, and as i'm so blind i need them thinned down. The ones they recommended (glass lenses) would take up to 3 weeks they said
fair enough...that should get them back just in time (the wedding is saturday). I made it very clear what i wanted them for the honeymoon and wedding
today i ring to find out if they are ready. No, they broke them, so they have to make a new pair, and they won't be ready for at least another week.
I'm fuming...had they told me there was a risk of them breaking I might have made a different choice, as I explicitly said i needed them by a certain date and for what reason, and i really don't want to go to Peru for 3 weeks without a spare pair of glasses.
There is now so little time left I can't even go anywhere else.
They can give me a standard pair, but with the strength i need they will be ridiculously thick and heavy.
Unless they pull out all the stops this week to sort it out, my custom will most certainly be going elsewhere.
I understand lenses may break, but i feel i should have been made aware of the risk as I wanted them by a certain date, and made them aware of the fact
anyway rant over! feel better now!

Your wedding was ruined. One of the most important days of your life!
I understand, there is someone at work who occassionaly uses contact lenses but spectacles normally. When they do use contact lenses, my god, they look like a newt or a mole coming out the ground for the first time.
I must admit that when people who regulary use glasses, switch to contacts, they look really odd for a while.
How did your wedding go? Where you in the pictures ?
You know you could ask for compensation to cover the cost of your wedding and honeymoon.0 -

The wedding is on Saturday. Nor does the op mention contact lenses. Try to keep up:rolleyes:
op, I'm not a big fan of Vision Express either. If there is the least chance they can get them ready, I would hound them to get it done. (if you have the time!)
Hope it all goes well regardless. Congratulations.0 -
I'm happy to report that vision express bent over backwards, and i have my new glasses already for saturday. So v happy now!
all we need now is for the weather to improve, as it looks fairly rainy in bristol on saturday!0 -
Should have gone to specsavers.
Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

Have you left anything else that is bespoke to the last minute? The dress? The guests?
Accidents happen.
Sorry about the weather but hope you have a great day.
Perhaps you could pop this in the great service forum.0 -
hope you had a good day!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0
