"More Th>n" Home insurance

Hi all
My contents insurance is due in less than a month's time and I'm thinking of looking around for something cheaper. By coincidence I received a mailing from the above company with an "example quote" with my postcode which seems quite good. The letter also goes on to say that if you take out buildings and home contents insurance together, the contents cover will be free for as long as you don't make a claim. It sounds good, but I'm always wary of offers that sound too good to be true. Has anyone experience of this company before I ask for a proper quote and get embroiled with their salespeople. Many thanks for any feedback!
Regards

We have building and contents insurance with MORE THAN.

We were burgled at the weekend and they are being FANTASTIC. exceeding all my expectations. Everything is being replaced quickly, from top companies and they are upgrading the spec. of products which are no longer available. I have my own personal customer manager who I can call with queries and she is lovely!!

I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them - I will probably never go anywhere else (even to save a few quid!!)

At a time like this, you really need a solid, reliable insurance company.

More Than is part of Royal and Sun Alliance. I have used them for car insurance. Their service is great and they treated me well on on a claim where I had no damage but damaged a car (both moving 50/50 fault). They did not take away my NCD at renewal!

However check out the comparison sites (like confused.com) before deciding

I've just opted to move to them even though they weren't quite the cheapest. I am currently with Direct Line for combined contents and buildings insurance and the quote this year was horrendous. Did a few comparison quotes and they all came in around £300 cheaper than my current quote. More than then phoned me and we went through the insurance in incredible detail and I have added a few extras like insurance for pedal cycles and accidental damage cover for both buildings and contens..and they still came in at £275 cheaper than Direct Line.

I'm with Morethan for my contents insurance.

Rang up to claim for a bust laptop (I dropped it, doh!) on the Wednesday.

By the Friday evening, I had a new laptop! (They sent me a preloaded 'voucher' card)

Service was excellent, so I can highly recommend them :)

  • Thanks guys for your feedback. They sound really good. Unfortunately I've just gone over the renewal date by a few days (took too long getting my act together). Do you think I can cancel the other one and change to More Than, or do I have to wait until its due for renewal again? Thanks for any help.
  • I got £100 through TopCashBack think it has gone down to £55 now

I'll move this thead to the 'Insurance & Life Assurance' board.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
