If I could, I would probably be a millionaire by now. Sorry.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • HI UN17ED, I have my own cleaning business and this is what I would use,,this works on 95 percent of ink stains. Hopefully u havent tried to get it off with anything yet???
Take hairspray and spray a little at a time on the carpet. Have a white cotton cloth ready and press the cloth into the carpet to act as a sponge. Do not rub and spread it . Spray and press over and over. It works on clothes and most things. It will not discolor anything. Then clean with reg carpet cleaner. Never saturate your carpet. It only makes the stain go deeper as will to much cleaner make dirt into mud below. Hopefully it won't have that much dirt but you get my drift
    OR TRY
This is similar to the hairspray trick but won't leave you with the stickyness, just use SURGICAL SPIRIT available from pharmacy. It's the ingredient in hairspray that dissolves the ink but leaves it sticky sometimes. I would also recommend using a carpet cleaner after tis method,,,good luck :-) hope it helps I have used both for biro and printer ink but without seeing how much /big the stain is I cant advise properly.

Unfortunately I have tried to clean it by dabbing it with a cloth of water mixed with washing up liquid.

Should I wait for it to dry and then try what you said?
  • Ok not a problem,, Dont let it dry if u can as that makes it harder to get off. I know u are possibly in a panic but if u can try not to be too 'rushed ' what i mean is try not to spread it when cleaning but dab the white cloth without rubbing. ;-) good luck

  • Best thing to do visit the NCCA or IICRC site and get a professional carpet cleaner around to do a spot clean. Ask if he uses Chemspec Products and if he does tell him to use POG to do the spot clean. This will work unless you have natural carpets, in which case he should have some Chemspec - HCS. The problem with this type of spill is it hard to contain and so it's best to get a Trained Professional.

    Hi
I'm due to move house in a couple of weeks and in cleaning out DS room I've found an ink stain on the carpet.
Now the carpets aren't great and I'm sure they will prob change them, but I feel bad leaving it. (Not bad enough to buy new carpet mind).
It looks like the stain has been there a while and I've tried some stain remover but tbh it looks worse now.

Any suggestions? Vinegar and baking powder?
    All suggestions gratefully received.
  • Hairspray is good for shifting biro so may be worth a try or WD40 may remove it - spray and dab at it, once its lifted then shampoo to remove residue. Hope that helps.

Ds put two large black ink stains on my cream carpet. They were there a while as couldn't get them out. Then I touched them (yep,a little dab and gentle sweep) with white vinegar and warm water 50/50 solution, and they lifted out in no time!

If needed, once it's dry after using that,go over with vinegar, water and bicarb paste
