Stale "cakes" are fab in trifles .. reconstituted with hot custard ... soaked in coffee/alcohol and turned into something scrummy .... one thing to remember though ... :shhh: don't tell anyone what it *was* and give it a French name ;)

So, in your case: " Moofan A La Chocolat Suprise" :D

PS: You could always keep practising w/out the oil and come up with a money-spinning product for Fat Free Chocolate Muffins ;)

Use gone-wrong or leftover cake as a base for baked alaska. Slice into a shallow ovenproof dish, pile on ice cream & then cover the whole lot with meringue mix. Make sure there are no holes! Bake in a scorching hot oven for about 5 mins til the meringue is cooked.
A layer of fruit ontop of the cake is good. I like raspberries & a slug of cassis!

It's amazing how often 'chocolate' and 'alcohol' appear - I'm off for a hot chotolate with Cointreau now!

Oooh, stop it - I hadn't even got round to checking that thread but was about to go and experiment with choccy and the large bottle of Tia Maria that 'jumped' into my basket at Tesco's tonight (only went in for milk :D)

Anyway - the muffins - I would slice, warm through and serve with a dollop of ice cream (maybe alcohol could be introduced to the muffin as well) or just with plain old custard

Ooohhh I would put them in the bottom of a bowl, pour over a mixture of Tia Maria and very strong coffee solution then cover with chocolate mousse, some whipped cream an top with a few slices of strawberry.

That's pretty much what I serve after Christmas dinner icon14.gif

Then I would wait until everyone was in bed and eat it all :D

Tickle ... "Moofan A la ... Doll Oop" ... (you'd best send the Tia Maria back ... sounds like theft by finding to me ;)

    black-saturn: "Moofan A La .. Wotzeeheck" ;)

Lucie ... ooh, that's a good one! "Moofan A L'Alaska" .. must make some fat-free choccy muffins and give that a go!   :D

Nope - it deffo wanted to come home with me especially as it introduced my friend Barclay Card to the checkout operator :D In fact, it is still in the boot of the car, so I'd better rescue it before it gets too lonely :)

You're a martyre woman....and all in the name of research because someone wanted hot chocolate advice. I admire your dedication to the site!

You are clearly being 'put upon' having to try out all these new recipes for alcohol flavoured hot choccy...so maybe I should take the reins for a while....so that you can (sober up) regroup yourself for the next moneysaving mission. I would be happy to try combinations such as vodka and hot chocolate, bacardi and hot chocolate, whisky and hot chocolate, brandy and coke, malibu and pineapple, white wine, red wine.....oh...erm...it's supposed to actually be with hot chocolate.:o

    Ah well....! :T
