I was fine all the way with the smoothie voucher until on the second page of the form I discovered the brand is owned by Nestle. I have been boycotting Nestle for many years since I found out about its practice of aggressively marketing its baby milk in third world countries.

This is a quote from UNICEF regarding Nestle:

"Marketing practices that undermine breastfeeding are potentially hazardous wherever they are pursued: in the developing world, WHO estimates that some 1.5 million children die each year because they are not adequately breastfed. These facts are not in dispute."
Quite right.

Nestle are evil and their products should be boycotted at all costs.

That could be the case... but aren't you actually helping Nestle by not getting a free smoothie?

Think of it this way. It's costing them for every single smoothie they give away for free.

This is basically a marketing campaign and they hope whoever gets a free smoothie will like it and start to buy them in the future. This would be wasted on you anyway (from Nestle's point of view) as you're never going to buy anything Nestle.

So by not getting a free smoothie, you're actually helping Nestle to save money.

Back on topic:

My smoothie voucher has printed out fine. Anyone worried about getting marketing emails etc then just sign up for a separate hotmail/yahoo/googlemail etc account for use solely with offers like this one.

Usually unsubscribing is fairly easy but if you do start getting an uncontrollable amount of spam then this way you can simply delete the email account and get another new one.

Contrary to what the first post says, you don't just have to click and print. You also have to allow your name, address, phone number and email address be held on a database by Nestle and agree to allow them to send you future promotional offers by SMS, email or post. If you don't do at least this, it will not let you at the smoothie voucher.

That prompted me to read the rest of this thread where I was reminded why Nestle are a poor company to support. So no thanks Nestle on this one.

[Had to edit this as the "e" with an acute accent in "Nestle" is appearing as "!" on this message board once you've submitted the posting!]

Amethy5t, you just need to phone up Asda HO and explain what happened. People have done so before, the store needs to be told by Asda HQ about internet prints! And Asda will no doubt send you a gift card to make up for it.

You could also go back to the site and tell Couponstar about the store that didn't accept the coupon. They will get in touch with Asda about it as well as their own HO.

Don't give up just because the SA was wrong and rude!

It's unacceptable treatment but sadly a lot of stores don't know what an internet-printed coupon is (in Sainsburys yesterday the SA muttered 'it looks like a photocopy' about my free Candia milk coupon. I explained it was an internet print and a 'safe-coupon' as per the logo, and he scanned it after studying it closely!).

Candia milk? It's UHT longlife milk so you won't find it in the chiller.

I expect it was on the shelf with other long-life milk (usually not far from cereals etc). Did the SA check there or just said they don't stock it as he/she hadn't personally heard of it or couldn't see it in the chilled section?

Thank you for reminding me. I've been boycotting Nestle for ages too but was tempted to 'forget' my boycott - I am ashamed to say it was the fact that you have to sign up to receive promotional material from them that prompted me to give up filling in the coupon, rather than my principles - reading your post was a timely reminder of what's really important.

I took this into my local Asda in Hyde, Cheshire and was mortified when the customer service assistant shouted loudly across the shop floor that my coupon was a photocopy and a fake and it was illegal for me to try and use it! I felt like an absolutel criminal. When I tried to explain it was a legitimate print out I was basically called a liar and told that if I tried to use a fraudulent coupon again I would be arrested! This was the first time (and last) that I shall ever try to redeem one of these coupons.

I don't think you should let them embarass you like that and get away with it. i once took a bus in Norwich with a bus plus (train+bus combined ticket) that I bought at the train station in london. The ignorant driver obviously knew nothing about these and spoke rudely to me in front of other passengers. When I tried to explain that my ticket was valid he said "Oh, just go and sit down", like I was trying to get away with not paying my fare and he was doing me a favour!

I e-mailed the company with the time and bus route number. I received a written apology and they claimed to have spoken to the driver about the incident and promised to educate their drivers on different tickets. I felt a whole lot better about that.

You don't have to know the name of whoever was on duty, just know the date and time and they'll be able to figure out what manager was on duty. You deserve an apology! And probably a gift voucher to calm your ruffled feathers........;)

Coupon printer wouldn't work for me in either Internet Explorer 7 (where it refused to admit that it had been installed and kept saying I had to install it again, so I'd reinstall it, and repeat) or in Firefox 2 (where Firefox either told me the addin had performed an illegal operation or it just killed Firefox when it got to the "Printing Coupons" stage). I uninstalled it and tried again with browser windows shut down, just in case. Same thing each time. This was on Vista. Bloomin' flakey bug-ridden rubbishy software.
