Car problems - what are my options?
Options
I'm not sure if this is the right board, but anyway.
I have a Ford Ka which is 2 years old. I have it on a 3 year lease. Early this year it developed a problem - something was draining the battery when it wasn't being used. Ford had it from April 9 2005 until 29 September and claimed that the problem was solved. On Saturday, when I went to start the car, the battery was dead again.
As the car is over 12 months old -even though it has a 3 year complete manufacturer's warranty - Ford don't want to know unless I can prove it's a manufacturing fault. I have had nothing added to the car so I don't see what else it can be.
Given that the dealer doesn't know what the problem is, would I be able to ask them to release me from the lease?
Thanks

Honest John is a good site for car things, and if you can't find the answer to something like this you can register and post in The Back Room.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Get the stepper motor checked out - this is the kind of fault that occurs when its on its way out - either that or the battery is knackered. I'd start with these two.Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

I've asked some of the other members of kaklub.co.uk to see if they have any ideas.
I've not seen or heard of this issue before though.
Maybe you want to try another dealer.
They should be pulling out the stops in your warranty period.
I hope they have given you a Kourtesy Ka to keep you mobile.

One of the guys from the klub seems to have had the same problem.
This is their reply
We had this problem (not using the Ka for a couple of days --- flat battery) on a 53 lux model, we found out you could use the 6006 cd player without the ignition on, as soon as we started switching the radio/cd off manually each time we left the Ka (it used to go flat even with the security strip off the h/u) the problem has not reoccured. Hope this helps
