Complaint with currys!!

Hello I would really appreciate some help on this matter!
I purchased a bilken wireless router on sunday from my local currys store, I took the item home opened the box and checked that all parts were in the box as instructed to do so.
I set it up but it didnt connect properly even though the bilken riuter was working it wasnt doing the job I bought it for, the lights were on the sytem but it wasnt working correctly.
After many hours of frustration I decided I would take it back for a different system or a full refund, I had everything boxed up and the receipt with it.
However the person in the store said they couldnt refund or exchange the product as I had opened the box.
I have never heard such stupidity in all my life, I asked them how I was to test the product without opening it and they said attached to my receipt is a condition that If I have bought a product and now simply changed my mind they would refund or exchange it within 28 days PROVIDED it is unopened and complete with any free gifts which may have been supplied.
I had not simply changed my mind at all, the product didnt do what I had bought it for, and I thought I could take the receipt with the product and exchange it.
They said because the machines lights came on and it seemed to be working ok, its not their problem it was not able to provide the connection I wanted.
Im furious with currys and would greatly appreciate any comments and advice people could provide me with!
As I would like to take it further
Thank you

Unfortunately, again we have half a story.
Was it bought to network another computer?
Was it bought to connect to the internet?
Do you have a wireless card in your computer?
If you do, did your computer recognise the router wireless connection?
    What exactly is the problem?

At the end of the day, Currys is not responsible for goods purchased which are incompatible with your system if this is what the problem is. Possibly you are not installing it correctly unless of course you don't have the requisite wireless card in your computer in order for it to communicate with the router.

as a retailer they are not responsible if you have simply brought the wrong product or are not using it properly because at the end of the day you are taking those goods back opened and used and they have to resale these goods as opened. you would not take an opened can of baked beans back to asda cos they were the wrong ones.

We took our router to our daughter's last year and set it up on her PC. We then went to Curry's to buy one for her. We didn't know whether to get the same one or a cheaper one. We were told that if we bought it we could take it back if it didn't work.

Well it didn't work, but we decided to take it home and try it on our PC, where it was OK.

Point is that we were told we could have taken it back, in fact the one we had bought was half price in JL because it had been tried out by someone else, and that is one of the reasons that we didn't want to pay so much more for my daughter's than we had paid.

    Hope you get something sorted.

Belkin products can be bu ggers to set up. The router probably does work. Call the Belkin helpline - they are pretty good and will talk you through it. If the item is faulty, they will make arrangements to send you a new one.

I agree...I consider myself quite computer savvy but I remember my ex partner (who is a web designer now!) and I having a difficult time with our belkin also.
