Unknown process

Ive got a process which is at 141,596k for memory usage, iv googled the name but it doesnt come up with anything, the process is pctcSvc.ex, im thinking of stopping it as its slowing the pc down, anyone got any advice

    PCTAVSvc.exe is the PC Tools AntiVirus Engine service process of PC Tools AntiVirus software.

    oh thats what it is, ok ive recently switch over to that from avg anti virus, comodo firewall and anti spyware, might change back to what i had previously in that case,

    That's one large footprint of memory.

    I use Nod32, Superantispyware, Comodo, spywareblaster and they only add upto 42,000k - a third less memory

    I second NOD32.

    In addition to that i use NoAdware and Lavasoft NoAdware.

    Never had a virus/trojan on this PC ever (3 years).

    thats why im considering reverting back to what i had, it was high because it was running a scan but avg didnt reach that amount when that did a scan, ive stopped the scan and its at 24k
