Atlantic Gas & Lecky
Hi
I have recently changed supplier from Scottish Power to Atlantic.
First bill was correct, meter reading was correct as was everything else.
The next thing I got was a letter saying As you are spreading your Electricity costs throughout the year we will carry forward the balance of xxxx which we owe you, there was no meter reading just the monthly d.d. payments.
I dont ever remember electing to spread my payments throughout the year, and why just the electricity and not the gas(I have not had a bill for that yet)
Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi, haven't had this problem with Atlantic, just wanted to say that if you phone them, I'm sure it'll be sorted very quickly. Been with them for almost two years now, and find them to be very good indeed.
Customer Services have been fab with anything I've phoned about (with a Scottish accent - no foreign call centre!) and I love the 'loyalty' bonus - every 12 monthly payments are rewarded by them paying the 13th back - and as I pay about £120 a month for electricity and gas, it's not to be sniffed at!
Give them a call.0 -

hi,
re dd payments-I had this when i first switched over to Atlantic. i rang them and told them i want a quartely bill (as I want to pay for exactly what i use). I think by default they put you on a DD payment. You do need to speak to them and tell them otherwise. Don't know why it's just your electricity though.Respond to every call that excites your spirit.0 -
Been with Atlantic 10 years now I think and have found them very polite and very helpful. Still the best deal around for me. Give them a call - they'll sort it out straight away.0

Really? They've never given me anything back in the nearly 2 years I've been with them.0 -
Thanks to all who replied.
I did ring Atlantic and they were very helpful if a bit vague.
I gave them the meter readings for gas and elec, again! Today I received a renewed Gas bill first one was #26.35 I owed them , this one was reduced to #2. 57, so pleased I rang them.
I still have not had a new bill for my elec though and that one I am worried about as it is a larger amount #88. 15 I owe them to be carried forward , this is because they have me on a two tariff reading even though I only have one meter reading a single tariff one, so obviously I have been paying the higher cost for daytime usage, they are changing the meter in two weeks time so that will solve that problem.
Do I have any re-dress regards the two tariff bill, as none of this is my fault, can I insist they revalue my bill to the single meter reading.
Sorry if this is hard to understand, suffering from sleep deprivation at the moment! You live..You learn.:)0 -
Hi I work for Scottish and Southern Energy the company that own Atlantic, as you still have some unresolved queries on your account I would like to offer my help to see what I can do for you.
My email is david.davison@scottish-southern.co.uk
If you would like my help regarding this please get in touch.
It is worth noting that if you have a 2 rate meter, when you switch suppliers this information is passed on to the new company and you will automatically be billed on a 2 rate tariff, as a company we have no way of knowing what your previous supplier had arranged for your billing, this is a common problem unfortunately“Official Company Representative

Yes this happened to me, changede from BG to Atlantic and had a 2tier meter.
BG just added the two values up and charged me one rate; whereas Atlantic now charge two rates.
Having a new meter put in next week and all charges canceled and started agin0 -
I have been with Atlantic for about 5 years. Ok but they did suddenly bill me a large amount a couple of years ago for electric. We never did get to the bottom of what it was. They did knock some off but they said I must have given them a false reading which dropped my direct debits. I think I am in credit with them now with electric but gas I now owe, even after getting a room thermostat.
I find the whole billing statements confusing and frustrating. Basicly, we can be charged anything without really knowing why. I am undecided if I will stay with them. It depends if they put their prices up in the next few months. Isn't there a way of getting your bills capped?0
