Damsel in distress....!

Hi guys or gals,

can anyone help with my problem, got an old banger R reg Vaux Vectra for my daughter to learn in, went to drive it this afternoon, and the key wont turn, the steering lock is on and it wont shift.

We took it out this morning and no problems, and yesterday as well, no problems, and last night...!

Any clues....?
Thank you in anticipation, we would ask a bloke but we dont have one...!

try shaking the steering and trying to turn the key at the same time . sometimes the steering locks can get stuck . if that will not work try getting some one who knows what they are doing , and get them to strip down the steering cowl covers and remove the ignition switch and then try the key again ...

let me know how you get on

No experience of Vectras, and apologies if I'm stating the bleeding obvious, but try turning the wheel slightly to take the pressure off the steering lock, when turning the key.

Also try moving the key in or out a tiny bit from it's normal position.

    And dont force it!

My F reg fiesta used to do this, it unlocked it if you put the hazard lights on!
  • Vauxhall's do suffer with ignition barrels in the heat for some reason.

Do as above have said plus spray some wd40 in there as well.
