URGENT - Additional documents required to support an application for student finance

I received this urgent email for extra documents re my DD's second year at uni. I followed the instructions, logged in to my account but couldn't find the 'Evidence Summary' screen. So I telephoned the Student Finance Company but they were unable to access my account at this time. They told me to phone my Local Council. The London Borough of Redbridge told me to ignore this email because it is sent automatically to all parents. If this is true then it seems to me that the SFC are wasting everybody's time by sending emails to everyone whether they need to or not.
Has anyone else received this email unnecessarily?

I've never received emails but plenty of letters instead! Both me and my boyfriend are mature students and declared ourselves fully independent when getting student loans. We still had to declare each other on our forms and like parents, get letters asking for proof of income etc. Think the most I've had so far is 8 letters in the space of 3 weeks thanking me for providing evidence in support of my boyfriends application. Needless to say that the SLC, like all government bodies, is a little too happy to waste money on pointless time consuming tasks rather than put it where it's needed....0

I think it's all automatic!
I did get the email about additional documents required but I had taken these in by hand 4 weeks before... so did a small panic! lol
all was fine.. I just ignored it and it updated itself a few days later.
I completed my application online back in March (non income assessed) and it took 2 months before the LA's were able to access them!!
after receiving the documents to sign and post back to them I logged on the next day and they had already recieved it!
mine's all sorted now - hoorah!
quick at some parts and incredibly slow at others - just hope they pay up on time!!!Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later date

I received one too, phoned LEA and slc but neither required any info so don't worry.0

This is a common problem. My LEA just told me to ignore all e-mails from the SLC and that the LEA would contact my parents directly if they wanted anything extra. Everyone seems to know how bad the SLC are except the SLC themselves.0
