The OP certainly shouldn't take anyone's word that I'm a vet! That would be crazy. I only got into this to make the point that vets (i.e. real vets in vet surgeries) are there to give advice, and that petmeds are not a total replacement - which explains why they are cheaper when it comes to selling drugs. I should probably have left it at that.

Yes, different vets have different suggested regimes. Even the Drontal website has two different regimes! Also, different vets favour different wormers.

If you were Bayer, wouldn't you continually propose more doses are needed?

Basically, so long as good flea treatment is being used, and the cat isn't a psycopathic killer, I think a lower number of doses is fine, and better value for money.

Personally, for my cats I use Milbemax. The main advantage for the public is that one tablet covers up to an 8 kg cat, meaning for most cats, half a Milbemax tablet will do, when you need a full Drontal tablet. The cost is about the same per tablet as Drontal. And Milbemax is a better wormer.

Novartis also say you should worm hunters with Milbemax every month, but so long as you Frontline them monthly, 3 monthly worming is plenty in all but the most "Shipman"-like, when we might go to 2 monthly.

There's some money saving tips for you!
