Hi Sam
Good idea to keep a diary and I know exactly what you mean. I'm sure (well I know  ) that I'm spending too much money and could easily cut back. Don't do too badly with the groceries to be honest - about £40 per week average for 3 of us (adults really as DS is 15) but still seem to spend the "extra" somewhere!
Also not sure abou the debit card - v - cash issue. I do have a weekly budget but like you, I'm not sure which works best - I still can't quite get to grips with handing over cash (I'll have it in my purse but then use dc instead
) but I think I'm getting there! Think for that reason tho, using debit card works best for me - my bank account shows avaiable balance updated as soon as I have used dc, so it's not too difficult to keep track.
Anyway good luck and if you over spend, let us know cos I am sure I for one will also have to 'fess up which might make you feel better!

Hey Sam your doing the right thing, spending diary has really helped me. It makes you stop and think do i really need that. I have been terrbile this week. Spent so much at thorpe park and it was a waste but a good day and now ive done my summer fun and will be back being good again. I stock up on bulk items too. did the dog food trip the other day, and ended up with tons free samples for the pooch. Go on websites too to get free samples for pet food. My pooch loves the pressie that came through the door today!!!

Tony, Loopy and Tallie, thanks very much for the encouragement  it really does help.
Today is a NSD :j . I worked nightshift last night and have slept most of today so a nice easy NSD. Maybe staying in bed all day is the secret to my budgeting :rotfl: . I have sandwich stuff & fruit for the next couple of shifts so hope to see the NSDs increase.
3rd July,
Total spent = £81.29
NSDs = 1

Hi Sam,
Well done on a NSD! You're going great. I have had to put petrol in today but other than that its a NSD!
You're helping us as much as us helping you!!!!!

Another NSD :j . Working nightshift and sleeping all day is definitely a DFW way of life :rotfl: .
Tony, having to buy petrol is a pain especially as we have absolutely no control over what it costs us  . There are only two petrol stations where I live and they both put up their prices by the same amount at the same time, I don't think that's coincidence  . To get it any cheaper I'd have to do a 30 mile round trip which defeats any savings  . I'm hoping what I have in my tank will last until 15th/16th.
Tallie, I was still half asleep when I posted yesterday and hadn't paid attention to your signature. You've done amazingly well :T . It's really inspiring to see others get their debt under control and gives me hope that I will manage it as well.
Loopy, I have no problems "fessing up" to you. It's good to know I have understanding friends on here
. I've been following your NR battle and am so impressed by how much stronger you are now than when you started posting. I have no doubt that you are capable of sorting them out :T .
Right, got to go get organised for another jolly night shift .
4th July,
Total spent = £81.29

Hi Sam,
Sorry, I couldnt post here yesterday as itwould crash when I was sending! Nearly got through yesterday as a NSD but my partner came round and had to pop to Tesco to get some bits and spent £9.65. Was gutted as I have tried really hard during the week, but have loads of plans for the weekend which dont require spending!!!
Ithink it helps us all that we talk to each other and helps us all along!
Have a good weekend!

Have spent £5.00 today on a £1 lottery ticket for 5 weeks. I was in two minds whether to buy it or not but I have put on the same numbers since it started and would be gutted if they came up and I hadn't bought the ticket  .
As the advert says "It could be me" :rotfl: . I'll let you know if it is
.
Hope everyone's having a lovely no-spend-weekend. The weather here isn't too bad but it looks quite wild in Englandshire so take care everyone

Thanks Tony,
I think everyone on here wishes they'd had their LBM sooner but better late than never
.
Quidco is great :T . When I'm bored I do lots of "virtual shopping" on it's websites, but I'm very careful not to press the checkout button :rotfl: .
Sam,

Hi Sam,
well done on reducing your debts!!
Your comment about virtual shopping really mad me laugh because I do this ALL of the time. Boden website is my weakness, I love having a basket full of beautiful things then just logging off!!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one to do such a thing.
Keep going on your journey, we are only a month into ours so I will be following with interest.

Hi Sam,
We all need to live in a bit of hope so dont feel bad on the lottery ticket!!
Tony x0 -
Thanks Ruby, I'm glad to know I'm not alone in my "virtual shopping sprees" :rotfl: . I'll have to have a look at Boden, another place to not spend any money
.
Good luck with your journey too, facing the debt and starting to tackle it is the hard part, it gets easier from there.
Tony, you're right, hope is what keeps us going and even £10 would have me very excited :rotfl: .
