we are not sure how long we want to go to france for, is it possible to just turn up at calais and buy a ferry ticket and would this be more or less expensive than pre booking?

You can turn up at Calais but it's not the best way. They tend to charge quite a lot, and you end up driving down to Eurotunnel to get their price, back up the road to ferry port, consider driving up to Dunkerque to see what Norfolkline are offering etc. (been there done that when I missed my Speed Ferries boat)
You could book a flexible ticket you can change, but best plan is probably decide the day before you want to come back, find an internet cafe and then you can check Norfolkline, and all the others websites in peace, pick the best time price wise and book it then. Different companies have different cut off times for how far in advance you can still internet book, practice on their websites to see.0 -
thanks for that, think thats what we will do.0
