Failed faster payments with Lloyds TSB

I've initiated two faster payments (both ~£1k) over the phone today with Lloyds but they have not shown up either leaving or arriving after several hours. The telephone staff confirmed the transactions had gone through via FPS at the time of the call, but there is now no record of the transactions online or even when I call to enquire - it is as if it never happened! I was fobbed off with something about NatWest may not be able to receive payments, which I know is lies. Has anyone else had any problems today?

I've done transfers between the two and they have always shown up instantly.

I called again just now and got someone with more grasp on the situation. Apparently faster payments between NatWest/Barclays/Lloyds have failed and are being held in a backlog until the system is working.
  • I have a personal current account with Lloyds TSB, who claim they currently support FPS via telephone banking (typical for them that they don't support via internet, they are always late doing anything new!). However, I have tried to send money (only £100) via FPS by telephone banking to both First Direct (HSBC) and RBS, and in both cases being told that "we do not currently support FPS for this bank, but we do for all others".

Obviously not "all" others, I just find this shocking that a bank can promote a service which is non functional and I just wonder which banks they actually do support FPS with? I know for sure I can send money FROM First Direct to Lloyds TSB and it arrives immediately. I cannot believe we are now a month and half since FPS was introduced and most of the participating banks have sorted out the teething problems and are providing a good, if not full, service. However, Lloyds TSB just seem to be sitting there, claiming they offer a service in the media and in writing, but in practise failing their customers when they actually attempt to use the service.

Having being told on both occasions by Lloyds TSB that I would have to wait until Monday for my payment to leave my account (I called Friday at 9:30am, you'd think they could process a payment during working hours!?) and then 2-4 working days for a BACS transfer, I told them to forget it. I can do it faster by withdrawing the money from the ATM and pay in at a branch - so much for the technology of today!

I have abandoned using Lloyds for sending faster payments. The system they have implented is not reliable to enough to trust for same-day transfers.

I have posted before on other threads on this issue and am basically in the same position as markjw27 - i was told that the money would go by FP twice in the last couple of weeks but it did not - just went by BACS - this was after I used telephone banking - but as you say any transfer from FD to lloyds goes through straightaway

Faster payments is still really wobbly. I've had success from RBS to Egg and to Alliance and Leicester, and pretty much nothing else.
