Hi,
I've had a look around on ebay itself and cannot see what exactly has happened or how
I have an auction running at the moment where there are lots of watchers and page views and I had a bidder for the starting price which was 99p. It then got a second bid from another bidder which pushed things up to £1.04 (high stakes stuff at this stage i know
) so I'm sat there happy enough that I have lots of watchers, the auction has a couple of days to go and I have at least two people who might get into a war for the item.
Then this evening I get more bidding happening (and it's still going on as I type this...!) - what confused me is that the buyer who bid second - that bid no longer shows just a bid by that user but for £10.05...which has since been outbid.
Now on other auctions I can still see lower bids from bidders even though the amount is now higher - so what has happened here so that the initial bid has disappeared? Anybody cast some light on the dark arts that can sometimes be ebays bid history?

its called Proxy Bidding. means that the second bidde rmust have put his/her highest bid at £10.05. but when the 1st person has only put the 99p bid, whatever amount the 2nd bidder up, will only go up one increment, which is 5p in this case.
so when further bids are placed, the price goes up0 -

ahhh - so if you've set up proxy bidding it will remove previous bids once your limit bid has been placed? this would mean that bidders on the other auction are just manually incrementing bid amounts in relation to ther bids as their previous bids are still shown - is that right?"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living.
