500GB External hard drive for backing up files, £50 delivered

Amazon's price for the 500gb has gone up a fiver to £54.95
Would be interested to see the 320gb for £20. Or any other 300gb+ external drives under £50.
After my 120gb external drive broke and cost £700 to repair and retrieve most (though not all) of the files I would strongly advise backups!0 -
Hello, could someone please tell me what the latest deal is on an eSata external hard drive with 1TB of storage or a similar option which amounts to the same?0

I got one of these yesterday, 500GB for £54.99 http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/3247290

I just thought I'd say that I've used ebuyer a number of times, and had no problems. They usualy can't be beaten on price, esp for leads, adaptors etc. That said, I've not had anything that could potentially go wrong. I've had to use their customer service a few times for other reasons, and they were very helpful.
Similalry, Citylink for me is a great option, pleasant chap and he always turns up here at the same time, so I know when my goods are collected.
As with most large companies, service varies with the region and with the staff.
Lastly, for backup I use a ReadyNAS system with RAID5 - 1.5 Tb of storage. Works, though making offsite backups becomes a little tricky. Whatever you use, you still need to make copies, and ensure that those copies can also be read in the future.
But there's lots of info out there in webland - google is your friend there....0 -

So have I,... but once before it was poor, and the last time it was lousy, and I will now put them at the back of the list of potential retailers, to be used when others are not able to supply only :-(
Google can be friend or enemy - it is easy to find the right answers, but you can find the wrong ones too, especially when it finds archived reports & reviews that are NOT impartial... again, the example is eBuyer who fail to post negative reviews of their products, so it means you only see neutrals and positives. The review I sent on the last item I did buy there was ignored, even though only slightly negative - and other examples are documented on the 'Net!
It isn't just a case of get-at-Ebuyer though:
Just today, someone in my household has spent considerable time (again!) attempting to disconnect himself from Next Directory, which unwittingly signs up purchasers to an account and catalogues which are charged for!
In this case, this qualifies it as another company who will receive NO further business from this address!0
