which credit card for £7,000 balance transfer?

i have now read up on stoozing and some credit card stuff here but still unsure which credit to get to balance transfer from my halifax credit card which is coming to its 0% end on 11th december. IF do not allow debt for halifax credit cards (not sure why) and lloyds ask for £15 k salary and being self employed it is not always that easy to say how much am earning. i have looked into amazon through martin's info and it says that they dont like debt (dont get that one either ) as they also offer balance transfer. I have a good credit record and am based in surrey (so Ulster credit card no good!).
would Lloyds be the best if i need at least a 6 month period 0% offer? and can it be done online?

really appreciate your help.thanks in advance.

    Same company, HBOS.

Amazon also run by HBOS, so don't apply for this one.

Why? You can manage by phone, post, internet?, or maybe at other RBS group banks - ie NatWest or RBS itself.

My highest limits were given by LloydsTSB, Virgin, Egg, Capital One, and M&S.

If salary/proof of earnings is an issue, then best to make sure your credit report is "immaculate" before applying for anything.

MBNA have high limits giving £9500 to a self employed friend of mine with little or no credit history, on first application last January. Rumours they are tightening up, but they would be high on my list, as Barclays only seem to give £5000 to first timers.

Beware of adding too many credit searches in your quest, good luck.

  • Why not ask Halifax if they would extend the offer for a further period. Or negotiate a low rate for a further 6 or 9 months.

did you have to say a high salary if you dont mind me asking? thanks for help. are you employed or self employed and does this have any bearing when asking for credit? ..just want to make sure dont get my credit rating too wrong before applying!!!!!

They all gave me well in excess of the figure you're looking for.

    In order...

    1. I told the truth re salary - as you should always do!

    2. I'm employed.

    3. I've no idea, but I'd guess that incomes being equal, they'd prefer "employed".
