Mark On Wood Furniture

A mark has recently appeared on the top of a wooden sideboard of mine - I recall sometime back using something (that was pretty successful) at removing a coffeemug ring that someone had done:mad: on it - but cant recall for the life of me what it was - as I thought the same thing may work for this.
I think this mark could be to do with the fact that a workman working in that room had a hot drink I had given him - methinks he must have caused this with that drink:mad:  .
Anyone got any ideas how to deal with this please - hopefully of a "natural" variety?

I use salt mixed with olive oil to make a thick paste, leave on for about an hour then wipe off (please test before using) but I have always used this on my wooden dining table when any marks have appeared on it.0
