    Good evening frunchkins:D

Just come up from feeding my oldies and preparing a few goodies for the buffet tomorrow night. They are having a party night with an entertainer so we are doing a savoury buffet for tea first and then later they can have the gateaux and trifles etc.
Our lovely policemen who come for their bacon butties have brought us lots of alcohol to use at the party, apparently it is what they confiscate from underage kids drinking in the street. It is then distributed to good causes:D
Judging by the amount they brought us there must be lots of alcoholic kids around here:eek:

I had a £20 Quidco payment into my bank yesterday which was from opening my savings acount with HSBC for my interest beater challenge money, that was a nice surprise as i had forgotten about it:D need to add it to my IB total.

Frugalmum has also just been and dropped off some of her home grown cabbages and huge heads of broccoli. As we will be eating with the oldies tomorrow night and Sunday night I will cook the cabbage and freeze ,some of the broccoli can be turned into broccoli with cheese sauce and toasted pine nuts for lunch, and then the rest can be made into stilton and broccoli soup for Sunday lunch-I still have stilton in the freezer from after xmas sales;). I'm also going to have a go at Marrus rhubarb cake recipe as have lots ready to pick.

Have also managed another no spend day so a happy bunny today:j
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.

    Milliemonster welcome on board.

Hi all, I know I'm probably a bit late to join in on this challenge seeing as tho we are more than half way through the year but I'd like to have a go, in fact its going to be essential if we are ever going to get our debts paid off

So I guess it works out at £333 a month which is about £78 a week, we should be able to manage that!, esp as I've had a nsd today!!!

Hi Milliemonster, welcome to the mad, frugal world of 4k living. You are correct, it works out at an average of around £333 per month. I'll get your name added to the list of challengers as soon as you give me the OK. The £333 includes everything included in cost of living, not cost of working or rent/mortgage/council tax/water

Food luck and thank you for joining us :)

Ooh - thats it I am starting to look for rental properties near you! I loooove broccoli!

This morning DD didn't climb into my bed, I got up in time, she heard me and got up as well. We had nice cuddle, I prepared her porridge, left her to eat in front of cbbs while I was having a shower, came out and asked DD to get dressed. Came downstairs DD was dressing herself. Loaded everything into the car, congratulating myself for being in time for once and not a single argument during all morning and then...AAAARGH the car didn't start!!!

Lucky I have RAC contract so called them and got them to come and jump start it. The battery had gone flat because for some reason the lights had stayed on despite being switched off  if it happens again I need to take it in to get the electrics checked. Anyway, had to keep the car running to charge up the battery BUT I was low on petrol so if I turn off the car to fill up it might not start but if I keep driving around and keep it running I might run out of petrol. All was well in the end, managed to fill up and car did start afterwards. Dog got it's walk, DD got to be in school at least for awhile and then got taken to the nursery.

Next year I will be paying my RAC with Mr T vouchers. I won't have enough for this years payment but am saving them for next year. Best investment ever!! :T

As a result of all that I have a terrible migrane and I am pondering if I should eat or not. Might go and try to get something down. Chips and veggie burgers come to mind so nothing exciting I am afraid.

I am so sorry I have been too off to be able to reply to posts properly.

I made a terrible mistake in matched betting today, if team B wins I was going to lose 135.87 pounds but after damage limitation got that down to 25.45 loss. At the moment (after 57 minutes) the score is draw which would bring me profit of £7.18, if team A scores my profit will be £11.63. So fingers crossed. Teaches me to start getting clever and creative on a day when things haven't got exactly according to plan. Lucky I noticed it early enough to fix it the best I could. But all in all during my first month of MB I have earned £690 of which £170 is cash back. Not bad at all.

Off now to nurture my hurting head. Have a good evening everybody.

    Marru

Marru - well done on your matched betting profits:j I made £500 last year when I had a dabble but found it quite time consuming looking for good matches. Keep meaning to have another go at it though.;) much better than free bingo.

Glad you got the car sorted out, maddening when things like that happen but at least you had a lovely morning with DD before it all went wrong. :A

Hope the migraine eases off soon.

I think I am going to start trying to read throught the first 2 quarters of this challenge tomorrow- see what tips I can pick up. It's HM yogurt city here:D .
Milliemonster - I'm a newbie too: only started 1st July so it's never too late to start.
    Tasks for tomorrow -
1)investigate phone/broadband costs. (always find that sort of thing stressful, but need to be done).
2)And then I want to put 4 more book on amazon
3)finish try to plan meals for the rest of the month from what I have in stock as £40 left of food budget to last 18 days:eek:
Marru - well done on the matched betting - that's amazing. I have thought of it but everytime I have a look at the MB forum my brain gets addled. I'm not sure I could give it the time it needs. But could do with the money! Your fav room photo didn't show up on my system.
Love the potatoes Nyk - i should try planting a few. I have a very samll back yard (if I was into swinging cats, I'd have trouble). But plenty of pots (and snails) so maybe I should give it a go.
Mumzy - well done re maths test:T That's a great start to your colleging.
Loobyloo - sound like you've had a revelation on the job front. I admire anyone who teaches and there is no shame, after years of of giving a lot to kids who need a bit extra, to scale down a bit and have some energy for yourself.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

    Milliemonster,
Have a look at the starter thread on the gambling forum, and read it through lots and lots. Don't even think of starting unless you understand the concept properly or it can cost you BIG time. Also you will need some start up money behind you to do it I started with £100 when I did it, you need to be able to fund the betting exchange to match your bets. Once you understand it properly you cannot lose money on matched bets unless you make a mistake, it is not about luck at all.

  • Morning all, hope you are all well. I really can't believe we are on part 3, or for that matter mid-July, already.

It will soon be Christmas :(
