Just been bad and good at same time. Just ordered £316 worth of clothes out of the sale section of my cataloge so it now comes to £108.49 (Including delivery charge). It includes 3 cardigans, 3 pairs of jeans as well as 6 other items, that will come in handy for layering during winter. As this goes onto my Debt, do I include it in this challenge or not?19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0

Have you got any spare tesco clubcard vouchers? I think national geographic is one on the ones you can get with your clubcard points. Just checked... yep 1yr subscription =£7.25 in clubcard vouchers.

You're a hero! I have £8.50 in clubcard vouchers
However, his subscription is paid until Dec 08. I can't see on the clubcard website - does anyone know if you can specify a start date on the clubcard magazine subscriptions?
You've cheered me up. I've just had a horrible phonecall.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Penny - yes, add it to this challenge. And maybe a mini-challenge to recoup that money? It sounds like a bargain though, so well done for bargain-hunting.
Ooops - my advice here is wrong, sorry. See Nyk's post below.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
DEBT??
You don't count it as a spend until you actually spend the money, so it's an increase in your d.... d... d... can't say it again, sorry, the big 'D' word. If I was you, I'd make each d... a mini challenge and just keep rounding them down until they reach zero. That's what I did... but I have numbers OCD.Well done on the bargains, though, and hopefully it's 0% credit.
Back again, sorry, had to rescue soup
Whitewing, snap on the mini-challenge suggestion, we were posting at same time again. I hope the telephone call wasn't anything too serious.I reserve the right not to spend.

Intend paying an extra £55 a month to the particular catalogue the shopping was done from. Guess I could add £55 clothes onto the the next two months spend totals, what do you think?19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0

I took lots of debt with me when I left my husband and have been paying just £2.50 per month to most of them with just being on Income support. This year though I've managed to save and offer reduced payments to 2 debts which I've managed to clear.
Today though I got a letter through which I had to read and re-read.I have a debt with one company which is £1800 and is being repaid at £2.50 per month. They have just written and said with the credit crunch they had decided to become more friendly and would like to offer me a full and final settlement offer of just £150 but that it had to be replied to in 10 days.I thought there had to be a catch as I've offered full and final settlement offers previously and no-one has ever reduced a debt this much.I rang them and spoke to a lovely person who said no there was no catch and that my credit file would be updated as paid in full.I explained that I'd need time to get this amount together and I have been given until 13th October.I wish my other debts could be repaid like this.I am a very happy person todaylost my way but now I'm back ! roll on 2013

Molly that is brilliant news. It is your reward for your diligence in attempting to repay the debt when many would have just buried their head in the sand. May it just keep getting better and better!DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0

Wow! MollyMop, a reduction from £1800 to £150 without a fight? Would it be pusing it to call them back in a week and make a counter offer on the grounds that you're finding it extremely difficult to raise £150? But leave enough time in case they decline and you settle on their balance. I don't think it's too cheeky to ask, does anyone else? With all these huge companies selling off their debtor lists, it makes sense for them to try and recoup at least something in one hit.
Think about it this way - £2.50 per month for £1800 is 720 months of bank charges (estimate 60p per payment) plus paperwork & postage (estimate 50p per payment) plus wages (estimate 10 mins of working time @ £6/hr = £1) plus general overheads, tax, insurance, etc, etc, etc... (estimate 25p per payment) you could be doing them a favour by paying off a small lump sum, and there's no harm in asking if they'll accept, for example, £108. This is what I estimate they could make from charging £2.50 per month for 720 monthsI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
