I'm back again
I can't remember who it was asked about where they could find the Himalayan salt natural deodorant but I just found one in the eBid YDC charity auctions. This is where I bought mine last year and it's still going strong; I haven't needed to buy any deodorants this year at all, so it is still saving me money. Still looking for a cosy cardieI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Just a quick heads up on thermals - if anyone has an Aldi near them. Brecon Aldi are selling off ski thermals for 4.99 a set of long sleeved top and long johns .... £4.99 a SET!! I've got two, and my OH will be getting a set too for when he has to go out and clear the drains in the rain! [I've posted this alert on another thread too, so dash out first thing!]
Another useful place is the http://www.nea.org.uk Only just fell over it again and embraced it like a long lost friend. After FINALLY finding out that houses like my home actually do exist within the "official" mind, you'll never guess what they're called ...HTH
Hard To Heat :rotfl: You just couldn't make it up, could you?:rotfl:If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0 -
Oh dear Nyk don't you just love the Scottish summer
I had to give in and put the Rayburn back on this morning  The temperature in the kitchen was 12C when I came downstairs and looking at the thick mist outside, I don't think there is much chance of things warming up.
I have got so many layers on that I feel like a mini Michelin man. My fingers are frozen even though one of the cats persists in lying across my arms and hands when I am trying to use the keyboard.
But I will be able to put the Rayburn out again next week as I am off to the sun for 8 days...the temp where my sister lives is still in the high 20s :j
I wonder if I can store heat like a storage radiator and bring it back home
Jumble so glad you are feeling a bit better. Better lay off the ploughing for a while :rotfl:
DgG Never thought the idea of cheap thermals would be exciting :rotfl:
BB having a hysterectomy is a real money saving tacticHope I don't offend anyone with that comment but, having suffered with Endometriosis for many years it was bliss to be rid of the constant agony.
Marru I am sure I saw I saw foil containers in the local £ shop. I have loads in my cupboard but not much use to you  And well done on the menu planning:T
I am going to take my washing down to the communal washing machine where my Mum usually lives. I think it's fair exchange as she is paying for it in her rent but I have been bringing her washing home to my house and washing/drying it here for the past few weeks.
I was going to try making bread in my Remoska yesterday but I was feeling really apathetic and never got it done.
Having read some horror stories about people finding weevils in their flour (and I have just bought some extra in view of the forecast price rises) I have put the bags in the freezer overnight and will be storing the flour in sealed containers from now on. I always used to just seal the tops with those "klippit" things from Lakeland but I don't think that will be enough.
After a long rabbity post, I will say goodbye :wave:0 -
Morning everyone! Always good to hear your rabbity posts Janey.
I slept pretty well last night :j Still tired of course,as that's the nature of ME/CFS but in theory I have had some deep sleep to help my body repair :j Yae for the new mattress!!
I am going to do my totals today, I am going to do my totals today, I... I'm going to attempt them now in fact but addled brain may not be able to cope :rotfl:
And thanks for the heads up on the thermals DG, they'll be a must this winter considering I'm cold already! Will hopefully get some for me and OH :T

JB - glad the op went ok. Sounds v painful though
Marru - I will send them over to you thenAlthough I'm finding dog walking is miserable at the moment with all the rain we have been having. Good luck with the new eating plan I'm sure once you get into it you will find it much easier in the long run.
Ddg - My Dh swears by his thermals! He has several pairs for when he is working outside in the winter. Can't say I have been converted yet though
BB - my boss has a mooncup and she is really happy with it. As I am pregnant I don't need to think about this at the moment though
Bails - well done for standing your ground and getting your £60 I'm sure your friend still got a great deal
Nyk - thats dreadful about your landlord. Can he not be made to do the work? We have some spare carpet in our loft if you were nearer I would give it to you. When we lived in a rented house we had mold growing on our bedroom walls as they wouldn't replace the wooden (!) guttering. Dh ended up doing work on the house himself and deducting the money from our rent (our landlady was lazy but didn't mind paying for it) After we had left they relet the house at way more than they'd been charging us thanks to all the work we had done on it
Anyway good morning everyoneHad a NSD yesterday as planned but had to buy some more undercoat and carpet gripper rods today for the babys room fortunately these are coming out of the extra £60 we are getting this month :j All I seem to buy these days is diy materials
Dh's brother is getting us some underlay from his work for £25 for a roll which is good so we just have the carpet and the wall paint to get yey!
Hope everyone has a nice day despite the weather. How I could have stayed in bed this morning, I had a doggy hotwater bottle lying on my feet keeping me warmxx

We're not too bad at then moment. I'm still in summer skirts and sandals, albeit with a jumper. I put the dehumidifier on first thing, and that seems to take the chill out of the air. Once it turns itself off I unplug it. Still sleeping with the small window open.
I have blitzed the kitchen this morning and sliced up windfall apples so am about to make - close your ears, Marru - apple and sultana crumble.
We celebrated DS' first day at secondary school yesterday with pizza (3 for £5 at Mr T's for very nice ones) and garlic bread, then microwave popcorn and a movie. And then I shouted at him this morning for forgetting his new coat. So I feel really bad. He is a terror for not being organised. Any tips?

Morning All
Well as I predicted DS1 was absolutely fine when I went to pick him up from school yesterday, we had a liitle chat and he was fine going into school this morning:j :j
I'm spending today sorting through my wardrobe, I've given myself 6 months to get back into certain items of clothing or they are going to the charity shop.
I still haven't totalled up my monthly spends for August so that is on my to-do list as well.
Hope everyone as a good day.:TCredit Card Debt

Good morning everyone,
OH and I have decided to cancel our holiday whilst bro is so ill, we should have been going to Malta again on the 16th but to be honest I would not be able to enjoy it as I would only be worrying about him all the time. Will have a look at the insurance later and see what it says about cancellations but it doesn't really matter as it was a bargain hol anyway.
Whitewing - DS may have forgotten his coat "accidentally on purpose" - many secondary schools do not have any storage facilities for coats so kids have to lug them around all day and it is "gay"(*substitute whatever word is in at moment*) to take a coat anyway. My DD has refused to take a coat for the past 5 years for these reasons.
Apple crumble also calling here if I get time as have been given a big bag of baking apples this morning.Might take one round for parents later, or an apple pie that they can dish up to bro's visitors.
BB and Janey - Another vote for the hysterectomy method of frugalising monthlies:D Had mine in November last year and have saved a fortune since.
It is absolutely freezing here today too, doubt if I would get thermals to fit my vicar of dibley figure but heating is going back on tonight that's for sure;)0 -
Hi again everyone, feeling abit down and confused. I am trying to work out what tax credits we will be entitled to after frugalmite is born as I would really like to only work 4 days a week instead of 5 and I am trying to see if it is viable. According to the inland revenues site we should get child tax credit and some help towards paying our nursery fees which sounds great however on entitled to it says we would only get £21 a week. Now I know £21 is better than nothing but it will no way cover my wages to drop a day and the nursery fees are extortionate as it is and will take all of our savings per month. Feel a bit despondent now. I don't think the weather is helping either xxDS 1 born 12/02/2009DS 2 born 30/01/2012Married 07/07/07xx Love my boys xx0
