  • Is anyone watching Panorama? Scary stuff  It makes me glad that I'm already trying to sort everything out. I felt really bad for some of the people they showed. Hopefully they'll find their way here and get all the support on offer.

bleughhhh i could never eat a pigeon, i would keep thinking of the scabby diseased pigeons that lived out the back yard of my old job

    Marru don't read this story!

we got it netted over to keep them out, but a couple got stuck underneath, so they got pest control or something to come and move them, they caught one in a cardboard box and took it away - not to set it free but to wring its neck!!!

and they couldn't catch one, so they bashed it to death with our broom and then gave us the broom back

apparently they normally shoot them with an airgun but they couldn't use it cos it was a built up area

then a few weeks later a dead pigeon got caught on top of the netting, so they got them back in.... but this time my work checked in advance that they had proper equipment this time 'oh yes, we have the tools'...

tools were a guy leaning out the window up the stairs with a pair of long handled clippers and a guy down in the yard running about to catch the bits in a bucket!

Taka - is that otter inspired?:D

'faid not... my screen name is very similar to my real name (Tara) We had a student that struggled to say my name and this is what her interpretation sounded like. This was about the time I signed up here... :rotfl:

JB - that sounds disgusting  and seriously unhumane

Bluefleur - thanks for reminding me... off to watch it on the BBC iPlayer thingy. Looks like BBC1 has disappeared from my living room TV... nothing showing up at all. Either its down at the moment or my random way of watching TV is getting rid of more channels again  . Hmmmm that sounds odd... ummmmm I *think* I get my TV via analogue cable at the moment (for free) I live in a tenement building with no arial and the cable I plug my TV into exits my livingroom wall and heads downwards into the ground where it joins other cables from the other flats. I also used to get Sky One, Skynews, BBCNews24, Bloomberg/E4 and a couple of others for free but they are gradually disappearing I'm down to BBCNews24 + terrestrial  I guess I should go digital but I tried a couple of years ago and struggled to get reception where I am. Anyone know if the internal digital arials for crap signal areas have improved in the last 2 yrs??

Are you actually from Brighton? Thats my hometown and where I grew up. My parents moved a little further afield to Lewes in 1998 :)

    Evening all,

And thank you everybody, I really do feel happier. Still a bit stuffy nose but sooo much better. The course was great and that is only a scratch on the surface so lots more courses to do. I strongly believe that I will find the money to fund this journey of mine as it feels something that I really am meant to do. So pretty life changing stuff. Plus I got rid of back ache I have had for 18 years so very happy indeed.

Only downside is that I have now huge appetite. I hope this is just a temporary catch up thingy as I will bankrupt myself if I carry on like this. I cooked tonight enough for two evenings and I have eaten it all :o. And after that I went into the fridge to find something else to eat but luckily there was nothing left so will settle for herbal tea.

Didn't manage to sort out my outgoings for August as had a nap before rushing off to the surgery to get my tetanus at ready for starting college tomorrow (in case I get bitten by any of the residents).

Off now to drink that tea and then time for bed.

    Be gentle to yourselves!!!

Not originally but it is where I live now (down near the Royal Sussex). Love Lewes too. Came here as a student in 1984 and left unintentionally 5 years later. Moved back after a decade away in 1999 on my own to start my life over, knowing virtually no one. Best thing I could of done - really happy here.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
  • Awesome!

I used to live near Preston Park, and went to school in Hove (actually!)

My mum works at the Royal Sussex...but yes, I love Brighton..when I get to go home, I make sure I head into Brighton for shopping and a night out :)

  • Good evening frunchkins, or maybe that should be good morning:rolleyes:

Well bro has arrived home, he came by ambulance but found the journey (about 25 miles)quite an ordeal and was happier once he was settled in bed. We have set his bedroom up with everything he could possibly need, and the Macmillan nurses have been to sort out his morphine driver device, and make sure he is comfortable.Everything gone to plan so far;)
