    Happy birthday Janey and Nyk!!
BB - I'm glad you had a good birthday yesterday!

I spend part of yesterdays enforces MSE break fiddling with my spreadsheets. Its looking scarily good (ok apart from the 4k/yr bit which I've given up trying to back calculate and have started it again :o ). I know my salary has gone up a wee bit this year but not that much... Its looking very positive for me reaching my target for Mortgage free in 3 challenge (reduce my mortgage by 11k over 3 yrs) and I'm amazed :rotfl: What the h*ll did I used to [STRIKE]spend[/STRIKE] waste my money on?

With the £60 tax back thing in Septembers pay packet - does anyone know if we actually get £60 more in our Sept pay packet (for PAYE peeps) or will it be eaten by misc other stuff and we won't get £60?
    Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

meaning I am £181.35 UNDER BUDGET! :T and that I have £1538.71 to last me the rest of the year. This works out at £12.41 per day :)

    Happy Birthday Nyk and Janey:j

Was up early this morning so went for an early morning swim and jacuzzi to start the day. Have just arrived back from the hospital, Bro is being ambulanced home tomorrow, so we will not have to make that journey again:D
Not cooking for oldies today due to the hospital visit but have promised them brunch again tomorrow.OH is off to work tonight and DD out so I will probably dig a batch meal out of freezer and have that for tea later. I may even fit in another swim before tea - once Bro arrives home it will be harder to find the time;)

I also think age is a state of mind. I have a 92 year old who is game for anything and has a sign on her door stating "Growing old may be compulsory but growing up is optional" and she definately lives by that maxim:p growing old disgracefully and spending her kid's inheritance on things like a new laptop and an i-pod so she can download audio books, and ordering in chinese and pizza so she won't have to cook. I hope I am like her in 50 years time. :D

I hadn't heard about this. I've just had a look around online and can't seem to find a clear answer. Imagine that- tax related confusion  It looks as though there will be a £60 rebate of some form.
  • I hope no-one minds me gate crashing...:o

Although I've not taken part in this challenge..and none of you know me...I've followed the thread from the start cos its so uplifting and has a real feeling of friendship in it...and has some hilarious comments in it!

Anyway, even though I dont know either of you, I just wanted to say Many Happy returns to Janey and Nyk.

    Hi minirolo.

    Re: The Marzipan Pizzas :D
No, he didn't put it on the pizza but could have been an interesting culinary experiment

Thanks everyone for birthday wishes :T
I don't really feel my age most of the time. I never felt my age when DH was here.
We would be walking sedately along the street and he would suddenly say,
" Do you wanna skip?" :rotfl: :rotfl:
And he was 27 stone :T

I have joined the September Grocery Challenge, having seen it talked about so much on here.
I had my DMP review on Friday which was fine but the CCCS Counsellor kept telling me I wasn't allowing enough for certain things. As an MSEer don't you always get used to looking for the most cost cutting way to do things?
I am allowed £160 per month for me and 3 cats for housekeeping. I said £80-100 but she said that was too low
So I had to agree and think I will be rich :rotfl:

She had no problem agreeing with the huge oil increase being incorporated into the budget so I might be able to afford to have the heating on before it drops to -5 :j

She was so kind, understanding and helpful. She went through my budget and said she couldn't see anywhere I could cut back so I was really chuffed because I know I will be able to save quite a bit.

Just done my son a WWII birthday tea since we are doing rations at the moment. From the amount that has been spent this month, I am sure its easy to see why i have done the last two weeks as rations. The cake went down a storm, yay.

May I also say Happy birthday to Janey and Nyk and I hope your day has gone as good as my son's.
