Powergen Price Increase

Just received our quarterly bill dated 6 October 2005 and we get a little perturbed that as with last year's electricity price increase, Powergen take it upon themselves to estimate the reading and then proportion part of the reading as usage for before and after the price increase on the 31 August.
Looking through the last two quarters and neither of those was estimated; we had an actual reading so is Powergen being sneaky here? The old cynic in me suggests that if Powergen do this across their customer base and, lets say, they get the estimate wrong by 50 pence a household, that's a lot of money they are making just on estimating this quarters bill. Is this fair?

We had never had a proper meter read since we moved into our house 3 and a half years ago and knew we were underpaying - which suited us as we were also getting married. So when we saw that the prices are starting to really hike up we gave them proper meter reads, as whilst it shows that we owe a couple of hundred quid at least it was based on the lower prices.
A bit off topic I know!!
I agree with you though that they're trying to sneak a little bit out of each customer to make even more profit!0
