Ok so happy might not be the right word but is anyone grateful or glad they got into debt?
I am for the simple reason of i am 23 and because i have been in debt i now realise the importance of money and how you can get it to work for you and i can't wait to start saving.
Anyone else feel they have learnt from being in debt? Just something i have been thinking about now i am close to being debt free.

Hi - not so much grateful for being in debt, as I have never really had massive debt, but what I am grateful for is having to watch my money to make it go further and find new ways and means of achieving this - so I suppose if I weren't in debt and I had no debt repayments then I would have been okay - so in around about way, yes, on reflection I am most probably grateful for being in debt!!!!! I'm kind of glad I got into debt. I'm appreciative of the fact I've managed to educate myself about debt and money while I have no responsibilities as such. I just wish I hadn't had got into so much debt. Maybe 'just' £10,000 or so! :rotfl:0

Im glad Im not blindly bumbling along spending money like its going out of fashion still. I still cringe at my old habits, like doing the weekly shopping with no list and just throwing whatever into the trolley and then keeping my fingers crossed that A) it didnt come to too much and
that it would clear the bank ok. How awful!

I am not necessarily happy that I got into debt but if I am brutally office I DID enjoy what the debt got me. I did some great stuff at a time when I could do it (ie when I was a student and didn't have a proper job to worry about) and I am glad that I did it then and I am glad that I have now learned the lesson before I was forced further down the line. I am confident that the lesson that I learned will stay with me for life and will mean that in 2 years when I am debtfree I will have a huge amount of freedom again to do things that I want to do (retrain into a new profession, downgrade to a job that doesn't dominate my life so much, take a career break, do voluntary work whatever I want really - or I may just reward myslef with a pair of manolos - lol)£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

I'm glad I seem to have retrained myself not to spend, spend, spend. recently had to take on more debt when I was very nearly clear and it took a fellow DFW reminding me that not all debt is bad debt before I could do it - thanks Maz! Hopefully after another couple of lean years I'll be sorted.Mortgage OP 2025 £6000/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

No, not really. Wish I learned at a much younger age and not had to go through hell to get it sorted...
But hey ho.Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
I'm not glad I got into debt in the slightest because I do not have much to show for it, and all my debt was accumulated whilst still living at home with my parents, so there was no real need for it as I had a good job, earning a good wage and could comfortably live on my wage, why I felt the need to just spend beyond my means is beyond me.
Its took 2 consolidations to sort myself out....0
