Anyone have a Nokia 6300 mobile - how do you download music etc. to it?

Progress so far:
Installed disk that came with phone.
Bought a dongle but found out it wasn't compatible with Windows xp just windows 98 so have to take it back.
Bought a USB cable but it doesn't fit, so I'm planning to buy one from Nokia site now.
Do I just connect the phone to the pc and then download from the Nokia pc suite I've installed?
The phone as it is has no games pre-installed which I find very strange.
Has anyone else got this Nokia model who can give me some help (soon!) Muchias Gracias

i think most new nokias take the USB mini b plug now (can someone confirm that please as i dont have a newish nokia to hand) and afaik you just use the pc suite to copy the tracks over if they havnt been downloaded from the itunes store or any other download service with DRM on the tracks0 -
You can take the micro SD card out and attach it to your computer in a SD converter through your card reader and simply drag and drop your music onto it.0

I've got a nokia 6300, the usb socket is about the same size as the mini usb used on digital cameras but is a slightly different shape, my computer has an sd slot so i just use an sd to micro sd adaptor to plug the card into my computer, i wouldn't buy the cable from nokia as it's just a scam to get more money off people by over charging for the cable.0

You can use the PC Suite for installing games/adding music although it's a very tedious/sluggish piece of software (but maybe that's just my 512MB of RAM talking...)
If your computer has Bluetooth you can send music/games to your phone through that which is a lot faster than PC Suite.0 -

Roughly translated (for us basic english kind of people:p ) when you say take the micor SD card out, do you mean the memory card inserted in the phone?
Also;) what's an SD conveter and card reader? I understand the drag and drop though ...
Nerdymcgeek: question for you is how to you know if your PC is bluetooth friendly. Thanks to the both of you for your help by the way.
Bloke at work has a USB cable he's selling for £2 says you can buy them from ebay for as little as £1 sometimes. I'm used to using USBs. Will try bluetooth when Nerdymcgeek replies.0 -
if your computer has bluetooth, you should see a bluetooth icon in the control panel/system tray (by the clock).
the Micro SD card is the memory card in the phone. a micro SD converter is a converter in which you insert the micro SD card and it makes it into a full size SD card which can then go into a card reader0 -
Hi, sorry for the delay but I would agree with what gaming_guy said above!
I am fairly certain that a Nokia 6300 will have bluetooth capability. All yiou would need than would be a dongle for the PC.0 -
Nokia 6300 does have bluetooth. It also has a mini usb port, I think it is a Mini-B usb connector. You don't need the Nokia cable any will do, the one I use came with my daughter's Creative Labs MP3 player. You should be able to get one cheaply enough, probably cheaper than a Bluetooth dongle. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Some computers have built in bluetooth (especially newer laptops/Macs) which you would probably know about if you had. Typically if you're computer is more than a few years old it wouldn't (you might want to google your make/model to see whether it does).
If it doesn't you can get a Bluetooth using a Bluetooth USB stick for about a fiver. http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/6-/Search.html?searchstring=bluetooth+&searchtype=PCSH&searchsource=10
