  • How would I go on claiming payment protection refunds because I have been paying this since I retired at 60 at the end of 2004? Has anyone ever been successful with this?
    Thanks, Lodge303
  • Hi

In Payment Care's Eligibility Criteria, they mentioned that you need to be permanently resident in the UK.

When are you considered a permanent resident in the UK?

I have been living in my present address for more than 4 years now but only has a dependant visa until next year.

    Please can you advise.

  • Hi everyone...I'm new to this site so hope I'm posting in the right place & hope someone can help!

I've just checked my Egg card (NOT Egg Money) as I've made a balance transfer & noticed that a PPI payment had been taken from my account. I have never agreed to having PPI as I'm self-employed so it's as much use as a chocolate fireguard to me.

I have called Egg & they have told me it was applied to my account in 2004 when I called them as I had overpaid, was in credit & wanted the credit to be paid back to my current account. They also said I had agreed to it being applied at that time according to the notes on their system. I admit I should have checked my statements more carefully but as the account has been cleared each month for most of the 3 years I didn't notice a few pounds here & there...It's only now when I transferred a balance & they slammed a £20 charge on the account that I noticed it...my question is...how can they charge me for something that I haven't agreed to?? Plus to rub salt into the wound they are insisting on 30 days notice to cancel the PPI....AAARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!

I am adamant I did not, as it is no use to me...and why would I add payment protection to an account with a balance that was zero (or in credit)??!

Egg have now told me they will have to listen to the phone call from 3 years ago (!!!) in order to cancel the PPI & reimburse me the costs, if they find the PPI was applied to my account without my say so....

I wondered if anyone else had experience of this and how I should deal with it....I am furious with Egg as they have been applying these charges without me noticing for almost 3 years!!! Any suggestions/advice would be most helpful!

    Thanks :)

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • I have looked on the site and there is so much information on claiming back bank charges and PPI on bank loans but nothing on credit cards .
I like thegeeman above tried to claim around 5 years but was told i could not claim as at the time i was self employed and was giving up work voluntarily and wasn't covered .I told them on the phone at the time there was no point in me paying and was misinformed when taking it out in the first place and wished to cancel it .
However it didn't get cancelled and stupidly i left it , so if there is nothing that can be done i'll have to accept it but if there is could somebody please let me know .. .
    Thankyou in advance Shirley
  • I have had a Burton card which operate under GE Money. I have not purchased anything with this card for 9 years, yet my money owing has at least doubled in this time. I get charged an annual fee of £29.00 card protection and account cover @ 150p per £100.00 per month. The suit my husband bought 9 years ago I think cost around £190.00 I now owe £314.70. Please can you help us?
  • Hi,

I think I may be ill as I am losing weight and have an upset stomach, which has been gradually been causing me probs since august. I didn't take out PPI on my capital one card and have a balance of about £2200. Is it worth me taking out PPI sooner rather than later, or will I have no chance of claiming? I have had no diagnosis of any illness or specific prob from the Docs yet but I have seen them a few times since august, had blood tests and whatnot and I am seeing a specialist in October.

Please help me if poss. If no-one here can give me advice is there an advice line i can call for help??
  • I've just had £42 taken out of my credit card for 'Card Care' apparently I've been paying this every year for about 3 years now. The thing is I very rarely use my credit card and the most I've ever spent in one month is about £300, most months I don't even use it.

So is it really worth having card cover?
  • Hello
New to this so not sure if this is exactly the right forum.
Does anyway know the answer to the following.. My husband and I are directors of our own limited company. When applying for any credit card or loan in the past we have always put our status on the application form as "employed". This is what our accountant advised us to do as it is what we technically are. Employed by our limited company as opposed to self employed. It was only when trying to claim for a health related matter that we realised what a waste of time these policies are as as far as they are concerned we are self employed. Could we pursue a refund on the basis that we were mis sold ? We have always put our home and work telephone numbers as the same on the application form and no lender has ever checked our status.

    Many thanks:confused:

    Hi People,

Can anyone help me. I have insurance with Payment Care and I've been made redundant and will leave my job in August. Does anyone know the best time to claim? Also, Payment care stipulate that if you are receiving pay in lieu you are excluded from claiming?? Is this true or does it just mean that after you get you pay in lieu you can then claim. Help!!!!!!!!!!
