The first Credit Card Number entered is invalid. Currently we do not accept Balance Transfers from this financial institution.

Had the same problem, rang them on the Balance Transfer number listed on the back of my Halifax One card statement.

Transfer went through with no problems, should take 5-6 working days to clear.

Said it must be some problem with the website not recognising the card number of my Virgin Card (MBNA) as a valid card that they will transfer the balance from

    Hope this helps

Did you do the bt online, or over the phone with the bank? I've heard of people who did a BT online, then when they checked a week later, it hadn't gone through, so they had to ring the bank to do the BT over the phone.

When you say "well within the credit limit", what was the available credit on your card? Did you have a balance on it already? You're only allowed to transfer 90-95% of what's available, not 90-95% of your credit limit, by the way.

I often find that Halifax online balance transfers don't work. Never had a problem over the phone, other than they are a bit slow at processing them. At least they say in advance that it may take up to 10 days.
