A friend is learning to play the organ and he has his music on a CD. He wants to know if it is possible to copy from the CD to minidisk. If so, how?

I think that's what his Yamaha organ plays.

BTW - He is not breaking any performing right rules etc;

TIA

    That depends largely on what equipment he has. If he has neither a CD player nor a MD recorder then it will be very difficult. If he has a CD player with a digital output and an MD recorder with a matching digital input then it will be very easy. It can also be done via analogue outputs and inputs, though the quality will be degraded.

    Do you really mean that his Yamaha organ plays Minidiscs? Yamaha made an 8-track MD recorder that's quite rare, but I didn't know they built any into their instruments.

    You could connect the minidisk to the soundcard output and record as you play the cd

    If he has a computer and a reasonably recent minidisc recorder, the easiest way is to download SonicStage from here. This should also install another program called Simple Burner which will do the job.

    SonicStage will do what you want but is a little more complicated to use.

    Can you check that he is really talking about Minidisc, and also find out whether he has the necessary equipment to copy the music, then maybe we can offer more accurate advice.
