Difficulty using keyboard+Bad shoulder

Options
I am having problems using my computer because of arthritis in my shoulder and neck. I am right-handed and find I can't do much with my left hand.
Is there a keyboard short-cut that I can use to go back a page?. The use of the mouse makes things worse. Any ideas, suggestions will help enormously. Hope someone can come up with solutions.

Yes, just press the backspace button. If it doesn't work, click on a blank part of the page, then try.

Hold down the alt key and press the arrow left key.

In any program, put keyboard shortcuts into Help and try to learn a new one every week .... then use it.

Using the mouse gives me pain in my neck, shoulder and arm and I don't have arthritis! I found that keyboard shortcuts really help, but you need to learn them and use them. Once you do, many are quicker than the mouse - especially if you're typing as you don't need to move from the keyboard to the mouse.

There are keyboards that have back buttons and other short cut buttons.

If you have a search for something like "multimedia internet keyboard" you'll be able to see a few.

You might even find ones you could programme yourself.
  • At work we had work station assessments where we had to have the screen facing us, not so that you had to turn your neck slightly or you end up with a stiff neck. Also the mouse had to be in a comfortable position so that your not stretching your arm and your hand is in a comfortable place. (Try having the mouse in front of you. ) I've been using a pc every day now for 14 years and the only thing that eased my aching shoulder and stiffness in my back was acupuncture a couple of years ago now, and a back massage occasionally. You should also have a break from the screen and keyboard as well for 5 minutes every 55 minutes to give you a rest. (Good time to put the kettle on, have a pie:D , hang the washing out or whatever suits your fancy;) )

My keyboard has a 'page up' 'key and a 'page down' key on the right hand side, for that. If you press 'home' that goes to the top of your page and if you press the 'end' key it goes to the bottom of the page.

    Hope that helps

I was told about this at the physio centre at the local hospital. The lady said I should be able to put the flat of my hand on the screen. There is not really anough room for me to have my keyboard and screen directly in from of me. Maybe a new flat screen would do it. My daughter gave me a new chair from her office and as it has arms it has made things worse.

Thank you to everybody. All the suggestions worked. I think I'd better study the manual that came with my new keyboard. If they are not on there I know there is a list of keyboard shortcuts somewhere on this desk.
