Check out a website called boilerjuice.com.
I get my oil about 3p a litre better than they offer by haggling. Also if you can buy 6 instead of 500 or 1100 instead of 1000, you may gat a better deal.

I`ve got a 2500 litre tank and am putting off buying for another few weeks. I reckon on paying no more than about 50p due to quantity and haggling down. I also pay cash on delivery which saves any credit charge:T

Thanks T J .....I`ll check that out! I`m hoping that prices come down soon!!! Can`t even use my 5p off a litre coupon fron Sainsburys!!!!

Time to learn to be a `money saving expert` I think.

My parents just had a quote to get a woodburner installed and it was such a high price they decided to stick with gas. Its great if you already have it, but a heck of a price if you have to start from scratch.
Theres so much wood that gets blown up onto Blackpool beach though that it seems a shame

It is so worth getting a multifuel burner & having it installed. At my last home ( the one we `owned`) we has gad CH but the stove heated the whole house & saved sooo much.

Maybe it was with burning all thoses letters that OH got from his creditors!!!!:rotfl:

Still got woodburner BLTN but not installed yet !!! Think tank of oil will last couple months if I`m careful....but no gas so may work out cheaper with prices rising all over!!!

Getting all those jumpers ready for the winter!! or else will have to sleep with dogs to keep me warm!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Its summer here & still have an oil filled radiator on as I type this!!!! very remote & very high up!!!

I bought 600litres in Feb and still have half of it left.
I have 3 woodburners and keep them well stocked during the winter. Tj towers is too big to heat the whole house all winter so we use the woodburners as much as possible. ......and I still go off to the forest with the trailer for free firewood......no point in paying for it when you can get it for free.
Also have started making pressed paper brickettes with a gadget I bought. Uses all old bills and paper shredded. This year I will be having free heat on one of the burners courtesy of several DCA as its their letters I`m using :rotfl:

Once it`s in though you can burn pretty much anything on it and they are soooo efficient. I remember the forst one we had. I burnt the cardboard crate and the little pallet it came on and we had free heat the first night. Even better if you can rig your water in to a back boiler.

They were quoted loads though to have the chimney lined, then told they had to have the chimney swept at a cost of £35 twice a year plus other costs, that it seemed a hugh expense.

Great advice....got loads of letters!!!!!! may have to buy one of those gadgets!!!!. :rotfl:

Intend to get the woodburner installed but bit of problem with down-draught (??) due to geographical position but hope to get that sorted soon.

Got loads of chopped wood already ( from previous house) so plenty to keep me warm.

    Thanks for advice,

If you use your burner correctly there is no need to have chimneys swept twice a year. By having the burner flat out for half an hour every week or so, you wll burn off any deposits. Sweeping once a year or even bi annually may be enough.
I think they may have been given duff info.
It is also not necessary in every case to have the chimney lined.
At TJ towers we have put the flue straight into the chimney as they are large ones. Not the same in every case but may be worth a second opinion from someone. Get a bit genned up befor e the builder comes round and ask a few pertinent questions . you never know he may think you know what you are talking about and price accordingly.

Gadget came from ecomania( I think) on ebay. About 20 quid delivered but if you have a paper supply then money well spent I reckon:T
