I had a new sky tv system installed last December when we moved house and i've had a few problems recently, hd box gave up but got replaced free of charge. However, i had a good look at my sky dish and it appears to be rusting really badly, the bracket is really bad and the dish does'nt look too great either. It looks like sky did'nt install a new dish as the previous owners had sky. I have tried calling sky, but after trying to navigate the indian call centre then someone in the Livingston call centre i was basically given some waffle about a new LNB being installed and there being no need for a new dish etc. Should i complain further or are sky right in saying that a new dish did'nt need to be installed?

We've had our Sky Digital dish since the service first came out and have never had any problems with it. Only you can judge the dish's condition though; if it's really not acceptable, I would persevere until someone comes and has a look at it. Maybe your local Sky installer could pop in for a minute and give you his opinion? Might be easier talking to him than someone in a call centre.0

They do tend to rust, especially in coastal areas.
I would've thought that when you had the HD box installed, they would have fitted a new dish. We had a new dish when we upgraded to Sky+ a couple of weeks ago.A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -
What happened was, when we moved we bought a new hd box and a new sky+ box for the sons room, but they were new installation at our new address. I'm concerned because after 12 months the manufacturers warranty will run out so i'll be liable for a £65 call out fee, if anything goes wrong. But if the dish is a lot older than 12 months already, how will this be affected by not being installed with the new boxes? You would think that sky would install new equipment, not leave second hand equipment of questionable age. The owners previous to us did not have sky installed and they had the house for about 12 months, so i think the dish is at least 18 months old, were as the boxes were installed new in december 07ACHIEVING THE AIM SINCE.........0

Well after a 10 minute phone call to sky this evening, i've managed to get a new dish installation from them as well as a £5 a month discount for the next 6 months! I think it had a lot to do with the peson i spoke to today was a lot more helpful and did'nt sound like they had got out of the wrong side of bed.ACHIEVING THE AIM SINCE.........0
