Seller sold item privately

I successfully bid for tickets to deep purple concert for £15. The seller did not respond to 3 requests for a postage amount :-/

Finally requested contact details and telephoned. He claimed he had sold it to a friend and didnt know how to remove the item off ebay before the sale ???

I contacted ebay as he could still leave me negative feedback and request a final value credit by logging a non-paying bidder complaint and affecting my feedback but ebay claim there is nothing they can do and I should leave appropriate feedback which I have done >:(

Im really annoyed that ebay won't even prevent him from requesting a credit and I could end up with negative feedback when it wasnt my fault the thing fell through. Luckily I hadnt paid, so didnt lose any money. Any advice ?

As you already say nothing can be done here. However, you can prevent him from filing for his fees back as the new dispute process copies itself to you and if he tries that you can report him. At least you have the satisfaction of knowing he lost money on the deal. He also now has a -1 feedback so any hope he has of staying on ebay is dashed.

He can still leave you feedback in return, but if he hasn't so far he probably won't.

One word of warning though, I notice the auction didn't have a post and packing amount quoted. I'm hoping you got this exact amount confirmed before bidding. Personally I wouldn't bid on a no feedback, new seller especially where no p and p charges are shown, so you might have had a lucky escape anyway!

An auction like that would have stopped most people bidding, hence it going for opening price. I suspect at the end of the auction he got considerably less for the ticket than he had expected and panicked and refused to sell with a dodgy excuse. We are better off without sellers like that.

Thanks soolin. I was supposed to pick up the tickets but as you said, lucky escape as I wouldnt pay till I got confirmation of when & where to collect the tickets. Guess I got carried away 'cos I thought it was a great bargain and would have made my colleagues day :-[

I guess this is why people with no feedback are a little dangerous, not only could they be scammers, but (like this twerp) they just don't know what they're doing.

The only thing is the persons probably mondo red faced right now. We were all new to it once, they've hopefully learnt their lesson!
