6 Seater Car

Hiya everyone,

we are after a 6 seater car, my hubby doesnt believe that they exist but i am pretty sure ive seen them on the telly!:D

Our car is on its last wheel and a 7 seater car is to big for our family so a 6 seater would be perfect. We cant afford to pay full price, an used car would be great other wise depending on how expensive the car is-we'll have to finance it(interest free ofcourse)

My hubby has left me to do all the investigation-i obviously have no idea (i call an audi an aldi):D

so please can someone help me, where do i start?

Fiat Multipla (arguably the ugliest car in the world)(after the Ssanyong Rodius)

3 seats in the front, 3 in the back.

Nice Diesel engines on them as well.

    Hi,

We have a Honda FR-V which has three in the front and three in the back as well. The middle seats in the front & back also slide so gives very flexible seating. Good boot space too.

I also saw that it came top of a recent reliability survey.

Is the car very loud? I just read a review by Top Gear and they're saying its a great car but not relaxing because its a loud drive. Ive got 2 under 3s so i really dont need the extra noise!:shhh: Hows your car, noise wise?

Multipla is much more roomy inside and face lift model is boring to look at, reputation for unreliability but we have our petrol one for 4 .5 years (now 7 years old) and only spent 100pa on service+mot from cheap garage and 4 tyres in 40k miles - we bought a 4yr warranty with the car which has been a complete waste of money.
    I think....

To be honest I've never noticed it being loud (although I do drive a van for work so engine noise is a relative thing.) We have the petrol version so not sure about the noise from the diesel.

The good things I like about it are:

    1. It is a Honda so very reliable and never had a single problem with it in the 3 years we have had it (touch wood!)

    2. Good cabin space inside as the middle seats are not quite full size but are not far off (also meaning that the kids in the back are further apart and can't hit each other as easily.)

    3. The middle seats slide back and forwards so gives very flexible seating. For example if we go long distance, my wife sits in the back with the kids but can push the middle deat back into the boot area to give her reasonable leg room.

    4. You still get a decent size boot.

    5. It has a dash mounted gear stick and a funny hand brake lever (to give extra leg room in the front) but you soon get used to that.

    Bad things would be:

    1. Slightly wider than normal car so a bit more difficult when parking at the supermarket (not a big problem though.)

    2. Rear visibility is not all that it might be when parking.

    3. Being a Honda a bit more expensive than the others mentioned above but in our view it is worth it.

All in all I would recommend it. We love ours and are not planning on changing it for a long time (used to be regular car changers.)

Always worth a trip to a local Honda garage to have a look.

I have a VW Touran which is a smallish 7 seater (fine if the rear 2 seats are to be used by children), out of all the cars I have had it is by far my favourite.

You aren't mistaken, six seater cars do exist!

One example is the Mercedes R-Class, but used prices start from about £24000.
I also gather that R Classes sold new (from this month I seem to recall) come with seven seats, so it will have to be a used one if you want the 6 seater.

Another cheaper option is the Honda FR-V, see the link below for some examples on Autotrader. The FR-V is of a similar layout to the Fiat Multipla (two rows of three seats) whereas the R Class is three rows of two seats. The Honda FR-V can be had for £7500 upwards.

    Hope this helps.

We have an FRV too. Bought it as it offers 6 seats AND large boot, not the choice of 5 seats with a boot OR 7 seats. It really is a miracle of packaging as the car is no bigger than a scenic.
