Best place to find rooms to rent for 2-3 months

Hi.

I need to find a room to rent in Notitingham for a couple of months from Setpember. I'm having problems at the moment as most properties available seem to be for students or at least geared up for them (in terms of current residents and state of the property.) And i don't want to get into a 6 month miniumum contract.

I know the government have a "rent a room" scheme, is there a website attributed to this that lists available rooms?

Thanks

Pete

Try placing an advert in the local paper for the area, and see what happens.

I don't know about the rent a room scheme but make sure you check out gumtree and easyroommate as they sometimes have people wanting lodgers, housemates for short term lets.

For three months, you could try cutting a long-term deal with a local guesthouse/private hotel or even a national chain.

Try to cut a deal for 60-100 nights at £20/night; only need to clean my room/change the sheets once a week; no need to top up my coffee/sugar bowls.

But get free wi-fi. doing this you've no bills or contracts to even think about, no council tax, no TV license, no broadband contracts. Easy. No putting the bins out, no cleaning.

Try hitting them for a 30 day deal in the first instance then if you like it there you can negotiate to stay on as long as is required.

you might be lucky to find a pub nearby that rents rooms out to those who need accommodation for this long, the one near me offers either breakfast or cooked evening meal along with it too

wow - thanks for the (rapid) replies. I had a trawl through easyroomate and i think it is a little early for a septemeber move in date so i'll check again (more seriously) next month. There seem to be loads of options though, living with either professionals or postgraduates, i'm a PhD student myself.

Btw - renting a room at a hotel will send me massively over budget, £20/night for 3 months ~ £1680!

    Thanks again.
