We have a dell tv, flat screen - its only a year old and somehow it's not receiving the channels.
we have checked all the wiring, ok. connectiion to aerial ok - as kitchen tv still works. remote batteries ok as can select menus etc. channel searches done etc.
we;re confused if there;s 'parental lock' on it as it asks for password if we scroll the menu selection - but none of us has chosen or instructed parental lock. - and tv licence is uptodate too.

The password for the menu system is probably a default one - look in your manual. It is usually something like 1234 or 0000.
Other than that can't help I'm afraid. Hopefully someone else can!I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0 -
Have you inadvertently selected an AV, or external channel on the set?
Also remove any scart/hdmi connections to external equipment.
Your remote should have a source select or similar button, which you can cycle round the inputs with.
PS The TV licensing people don't have the technology to block the signal to your TV..............yet!That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Thanks so far.
tried as many 4digits combinations could think of - but no response or change. btw could not find manual - just when it may have helped.
we've taken out all external wires - as we did connect the laptop to it to watch a downloaded film - so we could start again. no good still. ....0 -

Does it work if you connect the laptop back up to it?What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

we connected the laptop back and reconnected all wires. we got the sound back ! so speakers are working.
since then we have manually tuned the tv and only 'tv' is receiving - ie the basic 5 channels - but it is quite fuzzy and bad quality picture.
so we are sure that tv at least speakers and tv is ok,
but still cannot tune digital tv. - and still at a loss.
manual - which we read via pdf as per Browntoa, doesn't have any other answers.
wondering if the aerial on roof might be involved - but kitchen tv is showing digital - so confused.0 -
The default code for some Dell TV's is "3355" (DELL). You may have to do a full reset of the TV...
4. Why does my W3201c, W3706MC or W5001C TV ask for a password when I attempt a Factory Reset? FIX - When performing a Factory Reset All, all of the settings on the TV are reset including the Parental Control settings. In order to protect the parental controls from being reset without parental consent, the parental control password is needed to perform this reset. If no parental controls have been set, the default password is 3355. If the default password does not work or if the master password has been lost, perform a hard reset of the TV. Hard reset the TV: * Press and hold the Input Source button on the TV, not the remote * Press and release the Power button * The TV turns off * Press and release the Power button * The TV turns on * Wait 10 seconds * A message appears saying the TV has been reset * Release the Input Source button
