Our lady visited us today, and said they will send someone out to survey the house and give them & us a price, from there the discount will be applied.
Our rent is the same as it would cost to buy the house. Why rent when you can own it.
Up keep doesnt cost that much, not like a roof needs replacing every year, but maybe every 25 or so..
Lots of people own there houses, so why assume that because you live in a council house you are poor.?
I bring in over £30k on my wage myself, thats with the wife out of work. Roll on when she goes back to work..
Think people are just jealous that they cant buy a 3 bedroom house for £45,000...
Who is the fool now.? Not me or you..
Well done mate, good on ya.
I didnt want to gloat but i will.
Isn't it just great that the silly sausage on this thread is contributing to our low rent? Only for us to purchase a nice, decent, cheap house in the end? This is the life, *sighs*.
When you're Mrs gets back to work - you'll be rolling in the cream.
Let me know how the valuation goes. Remember to tell the surveyor every additional thing you have done since living in the house - they will deduct any improvements off the final figure.
I've deliberately left our council house in a "cack" state. I may even let off a stink bomb when the surveyor pops over! and make up the fact we've had none-stop plumbing issues for a while...
I'm curious though - why did you buy now? In light of the current situation, i thought you may have waited as some people have suggested here?
Anyways good luck with it and i look forward to your reply.0 -
I can't be the only person who is finding this thread completely out of order. I suggest people take a step back and stop throwing insults around the place and let this thread die the death it should've done at the beginning.0

You have been thinking about buying it for a very long time now. Methinks you are talking BS.
Well since the last time we spoke i have been in the process of clearing my credit reports from Equifax and Experian.
There were a few defaults that needed cleaning up before i went ahead with this RTB. It would've been a complete waste of time if i went through this process only to be denied in the end.
Anyways the cleaning up process was a nightmare but i am happy to say that as of last week, my reports are spanky clean.
The reason why i have resurrected my issue is because there has been massive changes to the housing market.
I thought it would be sensible to get any advice as to whether i should go for it now or wait.0 -

Bring back the cane days i say! The new-age has got it far too easy!
In "your days" your family got a secure tenancy in social housing....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I was probably ahead of myself with the cane talk. I've only just turned 27 last month!0 -
I still don't see how you are going to manage this, your parents may have RTB but they don't appear to have an income to enable them to get a mortgage.
As they now own another house have they told the council and are they still entitled to any of the benefits they are currently receiving
Do the council know that you are living with your parents and is there a deduction in their benefit because of this.
We have heard a lot of talk but you never actually answer any direct questionsLoretta0 -
So your father is making a claim for their benefits, has he told the benefit people that he owns a house and could let it for enough to cover the living expenses of himself and his wife?
Who is claiming for the rent? who is claiming for the benefits they live on?
You have plenty to say for yourself and you are asking for some advice, if you give us all the facts, not just a selection that suits you, you may get the information you are asking forLoretta0 -

Not really sure how the benefits thing works honestly.
Think my mum and dad get income support but don't really know the ins and outs of it.
I'll find out and report back when i can.0 -
