Cheshire BS Hopeless

I decided to try and open a 1 year fixed ISA at the Cheshire. I went into their branch in Macclesfield and asked at the enquiries desk for a application form,I got the usual we would rather you talked to an "advisor" rubbish I declined and asked again for a form they said they did not have any and they attempted to print one off their PC but failed.I took my £3600 elseware.
I thought the banks and BS were short of cash,if I was running a branch I would have a trestle table outside the branch and have a member of staff touting for business and handing out forms like confetti.

I sold a house last year and have been spreading/moving the money round in "safe" places since then to get the best rates.
I have probably dealt with around a couple of dozen financial institutions and I have to say I entirely agree with your comments. The vast majority of them have been poor to dire !
My latest one was with Birmingham Midshires. I sent a five figure cheque to them after opening an account on line.
I received a temporary password by e-mail which informed me that I would get my user name by post - I didn't - I got 2 more temporary passwords - then an application form to send them a cheque. All this time I had absolutely no idea where my money was !
When I finally got a user name I then had to try it with all the temporary passwords to get into the website - hoping it wouldn't lock me out before I found the right combination.
Principality BS bucked the trend, opened on line, cheque by post. They even 'phoned me to see if I had got the paperwork OK. Perfect.0
