Have just updated daughters PC for her to go on internet with Win XPSP2. After install display has become very small (high resolution). After a few mins it flips via an error message to lowest resolution and suggests rebooting and sending error message to microsoft! Under system info shows Plug & Play monitor RADEON 9200 SE family (Microsoft Corp) 640x480. Motherboard is ASRock K7VT6 (I'm sure it hasn't got a separate graphics card. PC has been happily working for nearly 4 years with no issues (and no internet!) I put SP1a on a couple of months ago and all was ok. Only this latest upgrade seems to have caused the problems. I'm guessing that SP2 has changed display drivers or is it some other compatibility issue? I've also noticed that the display seems to 'wobble' slightly under the high resolution? Any pointers would be appreciated.
I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!

According to the Asrock site you do not have a built in graphics card.
Go on to the ATI site and get the latest drivers
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
put the info in and it should then take you to (assuming your card is Radeon 9200)

Just taken side cover off (should have done that before!) can't see ATI anywhere but sticky label saying A9200SE/T/P/128M/A also has made in China on it!I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

It is just a chinese version using the ATI chip set, and your computer has identified it anyway, re-check Right click on the MY Computer Icon,
select properties, select device manager, click display adapters, you should then see description of the card.(XP)
Should say 9200se and prob ATI if so then the sites above should work with your card.
before doing change make your self a new system restore point for safety - if it goes T.Ts up then you can restore back to previous.0 -
I'll give it a go! My concern is that I downloaded the latest XP SP2 which should have supported this graphics card!I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

SP2 is not the latest there is SP30

It's not even a matter of it supporting it, you can't expect a service pack to include drivers for every possible bit of hardware. The drivers that come with windows are only to get you up and running, and aren't meant for day to day running. If you install the proper drivers the pc will run faster, and you'll be able to change the resolution to something sensible.
You should really download the proper drivers for all your hardware. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
I agree that should use proper drivers but if they were already installed and working fine then should the service pack replace them with something which doesn't work properly?I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

There have been problems with SP3 but not everyone has experienced them. I haven't bothered to upgrade mine.
As for the service pack replacing them with something that doesn't work properly, that sounds typical of a lot of modern software :rotfl:I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0
