Help finding TV with built in DVD/satellite

Hello there

We're still on a fairly archaic TV (ie not flat screen) in our lounge and would like to upgrade. We'd also like to do away with multiple items (DVD, video [not really worried about that facility any more] and Sky box). We are not in a Freeview area but understand we get most of those channels via Freesat.

I believe you can get TVs with DVD and satellite card (?) built in... is this right? Any suggestions on makes/models? (We'd probably prefer Panasonic, want something wall-mountable and maybe 34"/36"). I started to try and search, but got lost in the myriad of different options and found it difficult to find TVs with DVD/satellite facility built in.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Hmmm... thank you. That might explain why I couldn't find anything.

Essentially, I'd like to do away with having multiple boxes (video player, DVD player, Sky box, etc. all piled up near the TV). Are there other options? (eg. wireless solutions, or something else?)

    Thanks...

    Thanks.

Are there Panasonic (or other) TVs that include an in-built DVD player, but not freesat?

If money is not an option and space is, then I would not question your choice.

It only takes one item to go wrong and then the bills will be £££. With separates, other than the cost of the screen, new updated models are always ready available for a more reasonable cost, especially when compared to specialist repair.

Also if the Feeview goes to HD and the firmware/box needs upgrading, then you are buying into built in obsolescences.

That is why I would not purchase all-in-one units, however if they were dirt cheap :)

Personally, if the current TV works, why upgrade? Wide screen is more of a 'sales gimmick' in my eyes as much of the stuff isn't. Cinema films are even wider and that too gets cropped. They also do not save that much space.
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)

What about going for a dvd recorder and ditching the video? I've just got a dvd recorder and Sky HD box under my Tv and it makes a big difference. The new HD tvs are so slim that they themselves get rid of a lot of the 'clutter'. All my wires are hidden under and behind the tv stand and it is surprisingly neat.

Most TVs now have digital tuners for freeview, as mentioned the new Pannies have freesat (the Pannies are excellent quality TVs).

There are a fair few smaller TVs that have DVDs built in but im not too sure off the cuff about large tvs.

If you wait a while more manufacturers will start to produce tvs with freesat built in.
