Hi
Was just wondering, Im currently using an old Tosh Sat Pro laptop which is fine as long as the tv's on also (so when its slow, I watch the telly!). At work, Im used to top of the range machines that run faster than Linford C.
Without having to fork out on new machine and broadband, how much faster would a newer laptop or even a desktop be on dial-up than my existing laptop? (Toshiba must be about 10 years old with pittyful 28 (whatever) memory. It was my first I didnt want to spend much on it initially).
Thanks
RichT

i'd guess you might get a slight overall improvement with a newer machine but at the end of the day dial up is still dial up (as long as it's a 56k modem in the lappy now?) and the data can only come down the pipe at a certain rate. running apps and such will obviously be improved on a quicker machine and thus you may feel your 'overall' experience is better but it won't make a whole heap of difference to browsing speeds i would have thought."Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first." (Mark Twain)0
